CSUB Basketball player recieved the highest of honors.

RYAN BROWN,22, WAS HONORED AT THE CSUB BANQUET AND THE HONORS SOCIETY FOR HIS INCREDIBLE ACHIEVEMENT ON AND OFF THE COURT!

THIS YEAR WAS EXTREMELY HARD FOR HIM IN MANY RESPECTS. Academically sound, Ryan was challenged to maintain his high GPA while  missing classes because of games( gone 2 out 5 days during the season). His busy schedule included many hrs. of practice  and always spent his time helping any team mates that need it with their class's.  Ryan left for California, 2200 miles from his home town in Illinois,  with a Scholarship in hand from both Csub and his last school , where he was on the Dean's list and MVP of his Team. Ryan has always been on high honors but the biggest achievement is the kind of person he is. Ryan always gives 200 percent to everything he does including being a friend and team mate. At times, Csub's team has let him down but Ryan never gave up. He made it through one of the biggest challenges he has ever faced. No family close by, depression was part of his daily life.

This past weak end he receive the triple threat award From Coach Brown and an award from the honors society for being in the top 4 percent. Unfortunately, not expecting anything, Ryan went to the Honor Society awards instead of the Banquet at CSUB. I heard from him yesterday and there was a sound in his voice that brought me to tears. For a brief moment, I heard happiness. Haven't heard that in a long time.

Congrats Ryno, I'm so very proud of you.
