FloridaStateGrad - > Stranger in a Strange Land -> Bill Clinton's DNC Speech
Bill Clinton's DNC Speech

Unfortunately, I caught only the last few minutes of the speech, but thanks to the modern technology of the internet, I was able to see a number of video clips, giving me a better indication of the overall points he made.

So, what say you?  Who saw the speech, and what did you think?

Let me just say, I have never in my adult life been so proud of the Democratic party.  From that team that never missed an opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, to this, amaZing!!

Bill Clinton's speech was exceptional. His finest moment came when he very poignantly expressed that America is always best when it leads by the power of example rather than by the example of power. John Kerry's speech was terrific with humor and fire. Joe Biden's speech was great, with a brilliant introduction by his son telling the family history. I thought Joe Biden really brought home the common man stories that reflected the anguish tempered with resolve by working people, and forcefully rebuked John McCain's positions without  rebuking the man. It was another stellar night for Democrats heading into the final election drive.

I didn't watch it. All I can think about when I see this man is what a creep he is. Back when Catie Couric interviewed Hillary and she insisted SHE WOULD BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT, I though well if that happens, I can send him a cigar that says FIRST DOG , oop's I meant FIRST MAN!

I hate to admit it, but Bill Clinton's speech was terrific.

Clinton's speech was like witnessing a pitcher throw a nine-inning perfect game in which every batter struck out on three pitches. Overwhelming.

This from Clinton:  "People around the world have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power."

He nailed it!

Joe Biden's son was out-of-this-world amazing! His speech/intro of his dad waylaid me!

John Kerry took it Down-Town. He was beyond belief!!!!!

Joe Biden hit about a dozen grand-slams back-to back. I'm so very glad to get to know this guy. He is just amazing. A special, terrific human being.

It was the Dream Team. It was a SPECTACULAR performance!!! I've been wiping away the tears for two hours!

I never hate talent such as he has. It is a spectacular gift he has worked hard to hone into a fine art. He has no peer when it comes to making speeches.

On the other hand, I do not use Bill Clinton as a model for my international students to emulate when studying style and method of delivery.

Instead, I have them study Barack Obama's speeches for that purpose. He uses strategic pauses as brilliantly as any in the Western media school of speech. Obama is an exquisite model for those learning to communicate measured and timed English effects for both academic and professional settings.

What I find remarkable, is that anyone would "hate to admit" that great talent is great talent.

I relish brilliance since it is hard earned.

Well now that you put it that way, I hate to admit that I hate to admit it.

Good grief...

Sounds like Husbandmaterial needs to wipe away something other than tears.  I think you need to put on a condom next time you see the "Dream Team" on TV...I guess all the talk about baseball didn't help any, huh??

Yup,

Joe Biden is quite the common man.  And my ass doesn't have pimples..

I stopped mid birthday celebration to watch Bill, with some worry.Adam you picked out the same phrase that moved me"...the power of our example..." and HM, that baseball analogy was on my mind.We have 3 on the field and tomorrow the sound heard round the world will bring it all home.Good times.

Ron~ funny but the condition  of your "ass" never crossed my mind. May I suggest a veterinarian?

I was very impressed with all the speeches.  I was a little worried about what Bill would say but as usual he pulled off a great speech that I believe will help mend fences between the Hillary and Barack camps.

I thought he did a great job stressing that he supports Obama while disappointed his candidate did not win.

That you Michael?  ;)

I missed most of Bill's speech.  Will have to find a YouTube version.  Thought Biden did pretty well, looking forward to tonight.

Wow.....all of you are extremely misled. Damn..... The Clinton's & Bushes vacation together. Clinton agreed with Daddy Bush's New World Order Speech.(One Of Many) When are you guys going to wake up to the false left-right paradigm? Keep believing the lies. The Democrats are not going to do anything to save this Country. After reading the comments in this post, I am ready to vomit my breakfast. The sheeple are easily pacified by the powers that be.....to bad because some of you are very smart. Oh well.....

The Washington Times revealed that President Bush even takes foreign policy advice from Clinton, along with his father, and lets them sit in on CIA briefings.

George W invited both Clintons as guests of honor and praised them to the hilt as he unveiled portraits of the two to be hung in the White House. Bush described him as having "...a great compassion for people in need... a man of enthusiasm and warmth". This after Bush's 2000 campaign was built around Clinton having no honor or dignity whilst in the White House.

"The Clintons and the Bushes are comparable to the Lucchese and Genovese families: they have their little spats, but at the end of the day they eat their gnocchi from the same table. The Democons and the Republicrats are the left and right hands of a single body. The mind of this body is intent on bare handedly tearing apart freedom and ripping to shreds the constitutional form of governance that was created to bring down this elitist rabble."

Pinheads abound on both sides.

These  "conventions" are a farce!

Just wait until tonight when Barry rises up in his little Parthenon toward heaven and touches the sky.

If you can't vote for him after he and God's fingers touch, then you are an uncaring non-believing bigot.

Little Johnny ain't much better in a lot of ways, but he is better.........

I really just want Govt to leave me alone, but I know it will be even more intrusion with a socialistic Dem running things.

I'd vote Libertarian in a minute but its just a protest vote. All it would do is help Barry the Messiauhhhh get in so he can tell me what to eat, think, drive, and pay (him) ..... you will still have carbon based Pelosi and no-carbon present Ried running things........... I'll just have a harder time watching Pluggs Biden wiping his tears away every week and Barry rapping and waxing uhh uhh eloquent every time I turn on the tube for the next 4 years.....

Pete's right about one thing -- if I could just go up in the mountains and be left alone, be self-sufficient -- I would.

Pinheads abound EXACTLY..I post pro McCain not because I feel he's our country's salvation...but people need to hear both sides to be able to make an informed descion..these blogs are a loaded deck for Yobama for obvious reasons so its only fair Johnny gets his fair share of air time too..once that curtain closes its between you.. your grandchildren... and the candidate..

Right now God has little to do with it since his gift to us is free choice..unfortunately he just has to deal with the messes we make on a later date..

Wagons HO bubba... Wagons HO!!!

Dems will never admit it Sioux, but the don't want free speech.

Not unless your speech comports with theirs and their talking points fed them by their  "leaders"

Next they will try and control what you think. They've been doing it for years in schools.

BidenPluggs whines about high tuition costs? Ha! What does CSUB Pres make?

They will never lower tuition until they can find out a way to pay those college system gasbags some other way.

And remember, said college system gasbags are 90%+ Dems (Lib Soc Dems at that)

A loaded deck for Obama? Chief, you have to get out of that teepee and get whatever you're smoking out of those lungs. Take a gander at the amount of posts and commentary  of people who despise Barack Obama. Shucks, just look at the few on this post who seem to despise everything that doesn't fit their little world view of individual crackerhood.

Most of us on the left don't care about the personalities. We do care about issues like health care, affordable quality education for all deserving citizens, social security, jobs, public safety and the environment. We don't care what faith you have, that is a person's private matter, but your faith should never form public policy. You can rail all you want about the personalities of the people running for President, or any public office for that matter, but issues of importance and our future depends on finding ways to work together to solve our current woes.  Bill Clinton nailed what the neoconservative vision and reality for this country is. It has fostered the greatest economic disparity between haves and have-nots since the Great Depression. A vote for McCain and the policies he is promoting is a vote for a Greater Depression than seen in the 1930s.

Don't look at *ME*.  You guys are the ones opposing affirmative action programs that would have let the underachievers in too.

What would we do for laughs then? I assume you meant to add a y, to make that they.It is just those sort of completely stupid statements that crack me up~thanks.

One person was certainly full of hope and glee upon witnessing the warm reception Clinton got.

John Edwards

When's the last time you set foot on a college campus, Chico?  There are plenty of college Republicans.. I should know, because I was a part of the FSU College Republicans for a few years.

I should hope so.  He could do a great deal of good for the country if voters were as forgiving as his wife.

I guess the only ones I see today are the radical Libs (on TV, etc.)

It was many moons ago that I was in college, admittedly. It was so long ago it was very much like the  "Animal House" movie.

I was a war protestor before I got drafted. Can you believe that?

A Bob Dylan fan and all.......... my oh my, how things change, et?

Just took me a little slap in the face with reality (Fort Ord then AIT then VN) to get, as Strother Martin would say,  "my head right....."     ;-)

posted by randomfactor on Aug 28, 2008 at 03:50 PM

Chico, I doubt you've ever seen a radical lib on TV.  They don't get any airtime.

posted by ChicoEsquela on Aug 28, 2008 at 03:53 PM

They show them on Fox quite a lot  ;-)

BO shows them a lot (the other BO)  LOL!

I used to stand in the  "quad" with my English Comp teach and about 3 others (one of them my hippy girlfriend) protesting the war. 3 of my black jock friends talked me out of it so I quit. The world turns....................

Approx 5 of us sometimes out of a school with 16,000 plus students.........
