What toy did you never get?
Just about everyone had some sort of toy or item they desperately wanted as a child but never got. Mine was this remote control truck thing, back in the early 80s. You programmed in a series of directions (forward, forward, left, right, backup, etc.) and then the thing took off and followed the pattern. That and the Death Star playset (still pretty sweet if I say so.)

Share your stories of unrequited toy love and you might win these sweet remote control race cars. You've got a week to send in your stories.

As usual you can find the rules on our profile page. And per the labelling on the package, if you're under three years old you can't participate. Sorry kids.

I had an infatuation with the Snoopy Snowcone Machine, when I was four or five.  My mom wasn't having any part of brightly colored syrup in the house, though. :(   Oh well... when I moved to Bakersfield, I was over-the-moon about the Snow Shacks because it was quick to get one and take it to mom's house to eat it.

I always wanted one of those powered cars.  You know, like the Jeeps that have batteries.  Well, now they have Hummers, but back then it was all about the Jeep with the little kids wearing sunglasses driving around in the grass.  Oh yeah!

*I love Sno Shack, they don't have them in VA, and I miss them terribly. *sniff*

When I was a child I had this toy called a Monchichi.  It went everywhere with me.  I had forgotten all about it until I was at my parents house cleaning and found it in a box.  It had been so beaten up from my childhood.  But I still love it.  My nephew saw it and so badly wanted it.  He now carries it around the house when he comes to visit.  He loves almost as much as me.

My story's more of the toy I almost had. I had always wanted one of those gas powered model airplanes on a string, that goes round and round. I worked on our family farm during the summer, and was finally able to afford to buy it. I picked it up at Woody's Toy Circus. I got it home and carefully setup the control lines, and filled it with fuel. Dad said he would show me how to fly it. We got it started, and I held it on the ground while Dad got setup on the control handle. "OK, let 'er go". I let go and saw the plane shoot ahead, and get airborne. It was great! - For about 3 seconds. The plane went straight up and over, and smashed into a hundred pieces on the other side of the circle. I was in shock. Dad looked at the plane, then at me and said "Well, that's the way it goes", and left me to pick up the pieces.
