Are you a big Dodgers fan?
Our second Free Stuff item for the week is this blue Dodgers bag. Again I'm not sure why this was sent to us. Did the Dodgers think we had forgotten them?

Whatever the reason, it's yours if you have the best Dodgers story out there.

Go!

As said before, you can find the rules here.

I love the Dodgers, so I'm totally up for anything related to my team. my best Dodger story took place 10-12 years ago. My bass player JJ and his wife won tickets from his job and invited us to go to Dodger stadium. It was only the second time i'd been to a Dodger game. Our seats were in the loge section underneath the stadium club and right next to the foul pole, but I was just happy to be at Dodger stadium. The Dodgers were playing the Reds and the dodgers were losing in the 8th 4-2 and they brought in oldie but goody Dave Hanson to pinch hit  and I told my wife, I wish I could catch a homerun ball to take to Michael (our son) and no sooner had I said that I heard the crack of the bat and I turned around. I spotted the ball and I'm not kidding I thought "oh my goodness I think it's coming right at me" I reached out over the rail as high and as far as I could and It felt like a dream, but the ball hit me square in the palm of my right hand! Barehanded! I looked in my hand just to be sure and there it was a major league baseball. Everyody started cheering and I almost passed out with excitement. I didnt even feel the pain till 15 mins later when my wife noticed my hand was red. she thought it was because I was holding the ball so tight, but baby did the pain hit me when I released the ball. WHEW! BABY! Before that game liked the Dodgers, but after that catch I became a Dodger fan for life. I brought the ball home to my son and gave it to him as a gift.

That's totally cool! I went to a zillion Dodger games and never got close to a foul or a homer. Always had my glove with me when I was a kid.

When I lived in Newport in the 70s, our block, 30th st, chartered a bus to see the Dodgers vs the Phillies. Kegger on board. We had our own upper-deck section and brought kazoos for the anthem and Take Me Out To The Ballgame. The Phillies scored 11 runs in the second inning and unlike 90 percent of the crowd, we had to stay for the whole game, . What a long night...

Well, I remember in the '70s, when Sam Lynn Ballpark played host to the Bakersfield Dogers, the JBA program had a baseball camp with all the World Series Wining Dodger team of the era.

I had a mitt signed by: Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Davie Lopes, Rick Monday, pretty much the whole crew I'm just too moved to recall, and many other famous vintage Dodger greats. My mom's current fourth husband threw it out, nice guy!

I'll never forget how in love with baseball I was that summer...and only that summer. We were a wrestling family.

Being a life-long Dodger fan, I have several fond memories (the most recent being a couple weeks ago when I was able to attend a game with 4 generations of Dodger fans - my Grandpa, my Mom, myself and my niece all sporting our Dodger hats)

One of my favorite memories was a couple of years ago when my wife and I took our 18 month old son to his first Dodger game (made complete with his very first Dodger Dog).    Odalis Perez was pitching a great game, the Dodgers were ahead by a few runs and our son was getting a bit tired.  I knew the inevitible question would be coming from my wife asking if we should try to beat the traffic, but then I looked up at the score board and noticed Perez was pitching a no-hitter.  What's a true Dodger fan to do?!?  I was in a dilemna.  If we leave early, and he ends up pitching a no-hitter, what kind of Dodger fan would I be?   As I had correctly predicted, between the 7th and 8th innings, my wife asked if I was ready to go, when I explained the situation - the pitcher hadn't given up a hit yet and this kind of thing is very rare (and would be a great memory for our son's first game).  But alas, it wasn't meant to be... Perez gave up his only hit in the 9th inning to spoil the no-hitter, not that my son was awake to notice.  I ended up having to carry his limp sleepy body back to the car, but it was all worth it - a Dodger victory for my son's first game.

A buddy of mine works as a production manager for an ad company and he got me on the set in an aircraft hanger in Santa Monica where he was filming an Nike commercial with Hideo Nomo as the human "Tornado".  I was there all day and got to see the white boards and Hideo playing basketball and video games while he waited between takes.  My buddy was going to get a Nomo picture autographed for me but it never came to fruition.  Back in the 80's I said hello to Cary Grant at the entrance by the Will Call line.  He was holding a birthday cake and was always the classy dresser in a dark grey suit and the black glasses.

I have been through so much, I grew in Bakersfield, I have been in Redding, At the other end of the valley since 96. Well I have been to alot of games in San Francisco Vs LA, There has been times when things was thrown at me, Times i have almost got into a fight. I have seen alot of fights, There is a problem up here in the Giants telephone park for along time...These people are not baseball fans, They are rude and hate evey team that plays them..I have been to Dodger stadium and we have more class than they do. So it makes me honer my team even more. We have alot more pride and respect for baseball and our team. Never for get that! So i guess I have missed out on the free stuff. I love the dodgers and the old school Bakersfield dodgers.

I worked @ Sam Lynn for a year selling Pop corn Peanuts Carmel corn and lucky # cushions. One night my dad sent my brother to receive his free ticket for the next game on the lucky # cushion, the guy said he had a winner but the # hadnt been called yet !  OOOOOOOOOOOPS

One night we went to the ball park with dad and he had us jump the fence to get in free, believe it or not it was a free night to all.

Sorry but my dad was like that. (a truck driver)

I am NOT a sports fan.  Too much "juice" in the players C'mon, some of these "home run kings" look like steroid mutants!  My opinion is professional athletes are a bunch of overpaid whiners who go on strike whenever they want out of their contract or whenever they want another 10 million bucks tacked on to their already outrageous salary.

Nope I an NOT a sports fan!

In fact, I once had a Dodger ball cap given to me by a friend to needle me for my lack of interest in the Dodgers.  I never wore it.

It sat under the passenger seat of my car for months until  I finally found a fitting use for it:   One of my kids got car sick   and was going to barf in my car:  My son barfed into the Dodger cap thus saving my car's interior.

A completely fitting use for an otherwise useless item.
