health care issues and the "anger"
I find it strange that everyone is so angry about this health care "proposal," when we really haven't heard anything to be angry about. We haven't heard anything. They are threatening to do this, telling us they will pass a law, but they have no details. What exactly is the plan they want us to consider? I have heard nothing but rhetoric. I am angry that the "debate" is fact-less. That's the only thing I can possibly be angry about! I would love to form an opinion, but our government needs to give me something specific, some specific, detailed ideas, not some vague outline to get us worked up. It makes me wonder. What is happening that they feel such a need to distract the public with detail-free nonsense? Or is it that they need more money? What is really happening here? Why are we angry? I am angry that the government gives vague plans, then expects huge amounts of money, and gets it. I don't trust the government to do anything efficiently or well, based on past performance. I want less, not more. But I seem to be the minority. 10 comments from 6 users

And to think the Democrat led congress, worst congress in the history of the US, wanted to pass healthcare reform even before the August recess, without anyone in congress even reading the legislation. THAT IS WHY SO MANY PEOP LE ARE PISSED OFF. And the tone deaf Obama administration still doesn't get it... Poll numbers continue the free fall... posted by

People are pissed off because the insurance companies told them to be pissed off, through their hired stooges, the Repubwhigan Party. What they want is to delay it until next year, which is two more years of record profits and people dying for lack of coverage. It's not like the essential question of health-care reform hasn't been discussed already for 40 years. posted by

We haven't heard anything. http://www.huffingtonpost.c... (Of course, the Senate has two *OTHER* versions, and there are other House proposals as well.) posted by

Hmm. I thought people were dying because doctors were performing all kinds of needless procedures to line their pockets... I just can't figure it out. Obama says insurance companies are denying treatment, yet when he turns his head to the teleprompter on the left, he says doctors are performing needless procedures to make a buck. The american public have caught on to the serial liar... posted by

My insurance company isn't telling me to be pissed. For one, I'm appalled at the audacity of Obama and his administration to sign a bill without even discussing or even knowing all the facts them selves. Secondly, I'm pissed at the fact that cost will once again shift on the folks that have their crap together. This is another example of Obama's grand plan of rewarding failure & promoting irresponsibility. posted by

FunInBako: You are among a growing number of people who are suddenly finding themselves without blinders. Not that I'm intimating you ever had them. All I can say is that it seems to me that the real anger among real people who have real lives is beginning to expand. I would even venture a guess that some as far away as Washington, D.C. can see and feel that anger and resistance. I am an older American who never marched, never burned a bra, looked at the Women's Rights people somewhat askance, and generally sat on the sidelines and tended a husband, a daughter, a job and a house and everything that goes with those activities. I didn't have time to "march." In my later years I began "marching" via letters to the editor, e-mail and faxes and telephone calls to my employees in Washington. It's never too late. I'm one of those described by Pelosi as part of a "mob." I've never been to a townhall meeting in my life, but I intend to go if I can make it. As I said, it's never too late to start "marching" -- especially when there's so much to march for (or against). Good for you!

It seems you have answered your own questions FunInBako. I am waiting to see exactly what reform emerges from the Congress before I get all riled up myself. posted by

Seen any TV ads from BlueCross and other insurance companies against health-care reform? Sure you have--they're just pretending to be from concerned "citizens' groups." posted by

People are buying into the fear. Fear doesn't need facts to take off. Fear does better without facts actually. From the fear comes the anger and then the anger at the anger. It's a very good plan to quagmire something before it can even take off, so it's not suprising it's being rolled out for health care reform.
