riding lesson recommendations please!!
After my recent Rankin Ranch visit, I have a renewed love of riding horses. Now I want to take riding lessons, but I don't know where to go. Has anyone had a good experience with a local place? Please share the name of the place and number, if you have it.
Thanks!!! 5 comments from 4 users

Banner Farms has been around for decades. Several of the owner's kids are involved in competitive equestrian sports and they used to be in the news frequently (when sports news still covered such things). I used to bug my parents all the time as a kid for riding lessons there, but they never had the money. posted by

FunInBako, here's a post I did about a local teacher that offers lessons for $20 per hour: http://people.bakersfield.c... Sounds so fun! posted by

I looked at Banner Farms online and it looks like it's more elaborate and expensive than I want. I haven't really ridden in years, so I'm just looking for some basics, and to enjoy some time on a horse. I will call that teacher, Bargain Betty. Thanks!! posted by

Are you looking for Western or English lessons? I don't know how much you care to spend, but you could get likely get lessons out at MARE (masteringabilitesridingeequines) for a nominal price. The facility's primary function is to provide equine therapy for disabled people, but I know they occasionally offer private lessons to the more "able-bodied." www.mareridingcenter.com/ez.php They have very mellow, patient horses. Ask for Helen, Deb, or Mia.
