Bakersfield - Bakersfield Californian Newspaper Building - This old building is haunted by a few ghosts. A German Shepard Dog who can be seen, waiting patiently for his master to come and pick him up. An old security guard who can sometimes be seen in the lunchroom. Finally, the former editor of the Californian can be seen walking through the hallways of the building. Bakersfield - Bakersfield High School - Reports of apparitions of a young couple, they look to be 16 to 18 years old. The girl is wearing a prom dress and the guy is wearing a football jacket with "BHS" embroidered on the back. The area has a strange chill to it, and a feeling of being watched. Where they are seen is up near the top of the bleachers. Bakersfield - Bakersfield High School - Harvey Auditorium - Supposedly, while they were building Harvey Auditorium, a worker fell from the rafters all the way into the basement. They say that the Auditorium is haunted by his ghost, as well as some others. Bakersfield - Bakersfield High School - the Quad - The Quad is supposed to be very haunted. There used to be a hospital on the grounds of BHS and they would bury body parts from the operations in the area of the quad. Bakersfield - Central Park - A lady with the flowing robe seen wafting along the canal at dawn. A lifelong resident of this city was told the ghost belongs to a woman believed murdered. Her bones were found buried in the old foundry across from the park. The bones, discovered when the foundry's floor was torn up, had bullet holes in them. Bakersfield - Club Paradise (not sure what this place is now)- Reports of apparitions, locked employees in the storeroom from the inside, pushed people in the bar room hallway, grabbed, groped customers, objects move. Bakersfield - East Bakersfield High School (auditorium) - it is believed that years ago a janitor stayed after hours to fix some lights up on the ceiling, he fell of the ladder and broke his neck. if you go really early in the morning before school you can sometimes hear someone hammering something or something fall instantly. Bakersfield - Garces Circle - People have reported that right before a major car accident at the circle (there's been quite a few) people can either see the hands of the statue moving or they hear him muttering in prayer for them. Bakersfield - Highland High school Theater - Westley Anderson Hall - There is a spirit of an older man that likes to play tricks on people. He will turn the stage lights off when people are on the stage but never during a performance where he just sits and observes. He also likes to whispers in peoples ears and rummage through the costumes in the costume loft. Also reported the figure of a 16/17 year old girl walking around the stage dressed in a '50s style outfit. Bakersfield - The Kern Realty Group Building - House built in 1911 has had numerous experiences. Three spirits are said to be in residence. One young man seen hammering is believed to be a young man who fell to his death during construction. The second is an elderly woman who stands and watches. The third is a man always described as "angry". He is believed to be one of the former owners. Lights are switched on and off, doors and windows open or close by themselves. Doorknobs rattle, voices can be heard, and the sounds of footsteps on the staircase occur quite often. The present owners of the property, who operate the real estate company, say they have never felt afraid or in danger, and are now quite used to the "other agents" and their nightly actions. Bakersfield - Melodrama Musical Theatre - The theatre is located at the northern most end of the city in an area called Oildale, a community grown out of the oil industry. The building was constructed in the early 1970's, originally as a toy store. The owner went bankrupt around 1975, and having lost everything he owned trying to keep his business afloat in this impoverished area, closed the doors for a final time. Haunted by Harry. He has been felt passing people in the stairwell. He has been seen breaking mirrors. His apparition seen crossing the stage during performances. Also, the women's dressing room seems to have strange occurrences: the sequin dresses on the clothes racks "rattle" on their own violation, and shadows can be seen where no one is standing. Bakersfield - Norris School built in 1882 - now Kern County Museum - Witnesses report hearing the tapping of chalk on the chalkboard, but saw nothing. Bakersfield - The Padre Hotel - one of the city's landmark buildings is so haunted you can feel it the moment you walk thru the foyer doors. You should contact the owner for specific details. - March 2004 update: they might tear it down but as of now they are just remodeling to open up a new building there. Bakersfield - Pioneer Village - Reportedly, someone witnessed a ghostly birthday party in the Weill house. Others have seen children in front of the 1882 Norris School Building. Bakersfield - Standard Middle School - a man has been seen hanging from the top of the auditorium... ghost was caught in one of the 8th grade graduation photos through a window.. posted by

An old friend of mine showed me a website about a house on oleander that was supposedly haunted. The author of the website was writing a book about the house at the time. He claimed the old editor of the Californian lived there and him and some other key figures in the community (no names but his initials are Edward Jagels) got together and did wierd things in the basement (partys, devil worshiping, stuff like that). We decided to drive by the house which was on the corner of Oleander and another street I can't remember the name of. I got a real eerie feeling. The gas lights on the street and the big tree in front of the house make it look scarry. It looked like someone lived in the house at the time. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I would love to hear your stories. posted by

The house is on the corner of Oleander and Chester Lane. At one time Ted Fritts lived there. Ted was infamous. It was with good reason it was included in those stories.

The Jamieson center. Well actually it's the childrens clinic or whatever it is at the Jamieson Center and I know I am not spelling it right. I worked there as a security guard. I had heard from several employees there that sometimes at night you could here children crying in the clinic. 1 night I found a door open and had to do a building search to make sure no one was inside. Just as I finished and began to walk out a radio began playing. I went over and check the radio it wasn't a alarm clock radio just a regular radio. The switch was still turned off also so there was NO reason the radio should have came on. I unplugged it and left quick.

If you want to hear some weird stories contact me at Myspace.com/shy91... I am mixed filipino and anyone
who knows filipinos can be superstitious. I believe in ghosts but never have felt I have been in a situation with one. But being around my family at a few family funerals I have been involved with some things to this day I can't explain. posted by

Green Gardens on Union Avenue. I knew a social worker who claimed to hear noises, voices, and more... it's a halfway house of sorts now... Old UA6 Theatres on California Avenue. It's currently closed for repairs but if opens before Halloween is a must. In the 80s people who worked there claimed to see an old man smoking a cigar in the projection booths... Oleander neighborhood: I have heard countless stories of ghostly encounters from Blanche St., and Oleander St. It's worth an evening stroll, especially past the Fritts mansion... Rural roads: Breckenridge, Comanche, and more... strange ghostly encounters with supposed hood-wearing people wandering the outskirts and demon worshipping. -n.l. www.nlbelardes.com posted by

Here is something for you guys to try. I know you shouldn't do it just because, If you ever have watched the movie White Noise then you know where I am coming from. Try to go to a cemetary late at night preferably a old 1. We did it at a local cemetary in the unmarked section where many people who were never claimed are buried. Take a tape recorder and just sit in the cemetary for awhile. Be very quiet and just listen to everything you can around you. Take the tape recorder home while trying to remember what YOU heard when you were there and then listen to the tape. You will hear things that you didn't hear when you were there.

I wouldn't say my house is necessarily haunted, but since my youngest son was killed three years ago, I have seen him four times in our home (no, I had not been drinking at the time). Also, my older son and I have had other experiences where my younger boy seems to have "intervened" in an effort to help us both. The most recent time I saw him was when I was putting my step-kids to bed one night. When I went into their room, my little boy was sitting on the top bunk, where my stepdaughter sleeps. My cat was sitting up there as well, purring; my son was petting the cat. When I moved further into the room, my son vanished, but the cat continued purring with closed eyes. Get this: The cat was my youngest son's pet before he died, and had always slept with him. The bunk bed, and the top mattress, had been my boy's. posted by

Fooolishness! Show me! Even the Great Houdini couldn't make contact from beyond. Ghosts are overactive minds fueled by fear of inescapable mortality.

What about Munster/Monster type vehicles? Is there a contest for that? We would like to enter our Monster Limousine, Coffin car, and Monster Rod. All three of these cars travel together. The Limo pulls a trailer that carries the Coffin and Rod cars. The amazing thing about thes cars is...they are all driveable Street Rods and a lot of the parts were hand made from scrap junk and metal from his back yard! Go to the website and contact the webmaster to let us know please....thanks www.ClassyStreetRods.com . Oh and if any of you scary freaks are interested in hiring this limo. let us know at bertjohnson@techworks4u.com
