BAKERSFIELD MAGAZINE, Spring 2008: Bakersfield’s Premiere, Wealthy-White-Men’s
  •   BAKERSFIELD MAGAZINE, Spring 2008: Bakersfield’s Premiere, Wealthy-White-Men’s Self-Congratulatory Sycophantic Magazine of Advertising.
  •   What a worrysome example of the use of dead trees. Can the Corum Family still make a buck by showing at least a few women; people of color; the fourth of Kern County who are working-poor; those losing their homes and jobs?
  •  Fellow sinners, let us pray that Moorhouse’s BAKERSFIELD LIFE MAGAZINE from the Bakersfield Californian doesn’t also sell its integrity to the devil and lubricate the rich with lavish caresses and sweet kisses in perpetuation of institutionalized prejudice.

My first glance at the title made me think it must be some kind of satire on yuppy lifestyle. Please, please, tell me this is not a serious magazine catering to a select readership.

Just a second; now I get it: Your're repeating a rumor, right?

But then, Bakersfield Life is generally not about life in Bakersfield.

There is no life in Bakersfield.

Catpaw:   you are right.  I look at this magazine and do not see anything remotely resembling life in Bakersfield, except for maybe the articles on Kern County recreational activities.  Who exactly are they writing this magazine for -- certainly not the lowly peons in Bakersfield.  Probably the upper class from Stockdale Jighway or Seven Oaks.  OH WELL.  Certainly don't want to write about plain old folks do we???

WOW, Maggiepoo, are you serious about that??  Surely you don't mean that.

You know, there is more to this town than WalMart, Trouts, and Bail Bond Leons. Don't be jealous just because some people have succeeded through hard work and education. Besides, why would you choose to live in the ghetto if you didn't have to?

Of coors, there's cowboy bail bonds, naughty pine, pinkies, Harry player card room, dirty bobs, vi's, and the Druids bar! I mean, come on!

Ron, remember the injun named bowels? Your post reminded me of that! Seems they wanted to run Ave A thru this injun's place but he wouldn't move. When he told em, using his given name, they got it wrong and gave him some Exlax laced Pemmican. (he told em bowels no move). You can purty much figger the rest.......he agreed to move when teepee was fulla by product... ..........

The rest is his story............ or as Herr Aldo would say.........his panic..........
