A POEM: "AUTUMN"

© 2008, Reprinted by Alicen Jay, nom de plume for the author

AUTUMN

I accept autumn
It follows green summer
and the willow-yellow-green spring
preceding it,
melting the sooty snows
of the unspeakable cold time.

Autumn I accept
Even as I embrace spring,
as an old friend, saying
Renew.
Now.

But lately
I've come across
a phenomenon
I cannot accept.

It's the
Autumn
Of Dreams.

(((((Have a hug)))))

I am in the process of a long post, and I hope to finish it soon.  It is pertinent to Sagefever's post.

The Autumn of dreams Alicen; I'm struggling through that season.

ApolloDawn:  We all need a hug now and then.  The human touch, and all that --------

I shall look forward to your post, either here, at your own post, or at Sage's post.  Hint as to where?

Having gone through a ice age of dreams,I can only say spring does come....

Sage:  "an ice age of dreams":  sounds like the stuff of poetry to me.  And, yes, spring does somehow make her way even though she must at times struggle to see the spring and the tiny growing miracles popping up out of the ground and on trees.

Sam -- after having written a comment, I found I got ahead of myself and forgot to type the spam protection letters.  After all this time, sometimes I still can't remember.  (Maybe it's the sieve my mind has turned into!)

At any rate, to attempt to recreate my comment, I had said that that poem had been written long ago before any autumn of dreams should have been able to touch me; however, if we stick around long enough we find that anticipation will have sway, we will look forward, not just back, and will anticipate the introduction of new stimuli and new people into our lives, or will see the old with new and forward-looking sight.  Never give up the ship! and all that stuff, don't you know.

Your struggle with that little season, autumn, is just a practice session for your life fights with that old meany, winter.
