Vote early, it's worth the wait

My wife and I decided to absentee vote this year to avoid the long lines. Probably the best decision, besides voting for (insert name here), we’ll make these next few days.

She filled out her ballot during the Colts-Titans game, while I was busy trying not to toss the remote control as I watched Indianapolis’ defense give up third-down conversion after third-down conversion. I think she asked me a few questions about the props but you know men and watching TVs. I didn’t have a clue as to what was going on.

Despite the Colts loss, I managed to fill-in the ovals with a black ink ballpoint pen, and pray I picked a few winners. I’m not going out on a limb when I say, I know this ballot is a lot like my college gambling days when I played parlay cards *For entertainment purposes only of course. I missed a lot of games then, and I’ll miss a few here, too.

Today, I took the short jaunt to the Kern County Elections office and waited in line for less than a minute to turn in my ballot. It was as simple as Kerry Collins finding an open receiver against the Colts defense. How fitting?

The Colts still have a great shot at the playoffs, just not as division winners. They need to get a few more guys back from the injury list. There is nobody in the AFC West worth two cents, and Jacksonville has regressed big time this season in the Colts own division. The AFC North has one decent team in Pittsburgh. The AFC East has Buffalo and a wounded New England. All in all I see the Colts in the playoffs come January. They might not last very long in the playoffs, but anything can happen in the not-for-long league.

Cheers on your vote selections, whatever they might be!

Why couldn't the Bills be playing while you were voting.  Then, I would have gotten a subliminal plug.

Sigh.  Elections are tough!

McDougle, Tell me why I should vote for you! Lets see if you can sell yourself, because I'm not familiar with you. It's actually the only part of my sample ballot I've yet to fill out.

Proam:  Always glad to get an opportunity to earn a voter's trust.

First and foremost, I know the district.  I was a teacher in BCSD for 31 years and a vice principal for 2 years.  When a parent shares a problem at a particular school with me, I know where the school is and have probably taught there.

Second, I consider problems from using a creative approach.  You'll have to trust me on that but the people I've worked with in the past will attest to that.

Finally, I am a tireless worker.  If you vote for me you will be getting a full-time board member - not someone who has another job and can only devote one or two days to school board business each month.

If you need more, TBC ran a bio today (10-29) or check out The Grade staff blog, or my information at www.smartvoter.org/vote/mcdougle.

Thanks for the chance to win your vote.

Bill
