Linda2 - > Education -> Eye Opening: Illegal Immigration
Eye Opening: Illegal Immigration
From the L.A Times:

 Monday, September 18, 2006 10:05 AM

 1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million

people) are working for cash and not paying Taxes. This was because they

are predominantly Illegal Immigrants, working without a Green Card.

 2. 95% of Warrants for Murder in Los Angeles are for Illegal Aliens.

 3. 75% of people, on the Most Wanted List in Los Angeles are Illegal Aliens.

 4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to  Illegal Alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal,

whose births were paid for by Taxpayers.

 5. Nearly 25% of all Inmates in California Detention Centers are Mexican Nationals here

     Illegally.

 6. Over 300,000 Illegal Aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

 7. The FBI reports half of all Gang Members, in Los Angeles, are most likely Illegal Aliens from

     South of the Border.

 8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD Properties are Illegal.

 9. 21 Radio Stations in L.A. Are Spanish speaking.

 10. In L.A. County, 5.1 Million people speak English. 3.9 Million speak Spanish (10.2 million

       people in L.A. County).

(All the above from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of Illegal Aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on Welfare.

Over 70% of the United States' annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York) results from Immigration.

The cost of Immigration to the American Taxpayer in 1997 was, (after subtracting Taxes Immigrants pay), a NET $70 BILLION a year, [Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University]. The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican Immigrant is a NEGATIVE number.

29% of inmates in Federal Prisons are Illegal Aliens.

If they can come to this Country to raise Hell and demonstrate by the thousands, Why can't they take charge over the corruption in their own Country?

We are a bunch of fools for letting this continue. THE U.S. VS MEXICO:

On February 15, 1998, the U.S. And Mexican Soccer Teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly Pro-Mexican even though most lived in this Country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. Flags were held upside down. As the Match progressed, supporters of the U.S. Team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. Players before and after the Match. The Coach of the U.S. Team, Steve Sampson said, "This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession."

Did you know that Immigrants from Mexico and other Non-European Countries can come to this Country and get preferences in Jobs, Education, and Government Contracts? It's called Affirmative Action or Racial Privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible for special rights unavailable for Americans of European descent.

Recently, a vote was taken in the U.S. Congress to end this practice, It was Defeated. Corporate America has signed on to the idea that Minorities and Third World Immigrants should get Special, Privileged Status. Some examples are Exxon, Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine

Weber, Starbucks and many more.

DID YOU KNOW?: That Mexico regularly intercedes on the side of the Defense in Criminal Cases involving Mexican Nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER Extradited a Mexican National, accused of Murder in the U.S., in spite of Agreements to do so? According to the L.A. Times, Orange County, California is home to 275 Gangs with 17,000 Members; 98% of which are Mexican and Asian. How's your County doing?

According to a New York Times Article, dated May 19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of Legal Immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on Welfare, compared to 8% of Households Nationwide. A Wall Street Journal Editorial dated December 5, 1994 quotes Law Enforcement Officials as stating that Asian Mobsters are the "Greatest Criminal challenge the Country faces." Not bad for a group that is still under 5% of the population.

Is education important to you? Here are the words of aTteacher who spent over 20 years in the Los Angeles School System. "Imagine Teachers in Classes containing 30-40 Students, of widely varying attention spans and motivation, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Educators seek learning materials likely to reach the majority of students and that means fewer Words and Math Problems and more Pictures and Multicultural References."

I remember hearing about the Immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They wanted to learn English. They wanted to breathe free. They wanted to become Americans. Now, far too many Immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be taught in their own Language. They demand special privileges--affirmative action.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?:

Send copies of this letter to at least two other

people, 100 would be even better.

Help us get the word out:

I highly doubt those statistics are accurate.  For one, out of the 10 million people living in LA county, less than 1 million (or less than 10%) are illegal immigrants.  Not to mention with all the black gangs like the bloods and the crips down in LA, I highly doubt that 95% of all wanted murderers are illegal immigrants.  Also, with less than 10% of LA's population being undocumented immigrants, I doubt they make up 2/3rds of the birthrate in L.A.  Hispanics as a whole might make up 2/3rd's of the birth rate, but not every hispanic is here illegally.  Also for your #9 and #10, those are probably somewhat true and misleading.  Those are probably english first and spanish first speaking people.  In otherwords, it doesn't include the bilingual speakers that has spanish as their native toungue, and also speaks english fluently.  I also doubt that those statistics were published on September 18th when I saw those same statistics in May.

Shsrebel, this is astroturf.  I poked around a little and found it in about 20 places.  We could debunk them all, one by one, but it'll pop up again and again before Tuesday.  In CA, this is part of "the last minute lie", stuff that gets put out right before the election that wouldn't stand up for more than a day or 2.

Some more interesting things on the Republican GOTV efforts:  Apparently, this year they are using robocalls to repeatedly call  people and pretending to be Democrats.  Over the next two years,  we need to work on banning robocalls (except for emergency services) and implementing instant runoff voting.

Even if these stats are off by 50%, isn't that still a pretty big problem?

Democrats do not see illegal immigration because they know eventually they will control Congress and naturalize, through amnesty, all these people and ...Shazaam !  Instant Democratic party voters !

The numbers seem a little high to me, but thanks Tom, for saying you could debunk these, and then not doing so.

Tom, who predicted Dow would not break previous high, and predicted Lieberman would lose.
posted by dusty1215 on Nov 5, 2006 at 10:02 PM
Linda doesn't have any links to verify any of these numbers. I did a search on the LA Times site using just the words "illegal immigration" and nothing came up with the information she states she got from the date of Monday Sept 18,2006. Then I tried "illegal aliens"..nothing then for the date she quotes either. Both sets of words are in the portion attributed to the LA Times. Where did you get this stuff from Linda? Because it wasn't the LA Times, at least what you state you got from them.

Yeah, my bad on the Dow.  I thought the profit takers would come in under 12 instead of 12.3.  Market's tapering now ahead of the elections, will probably pop this week after the Dems win.  This run was undercut by all the fundamentals and the Dow is out of sync with the other markets as well.  Looks like it was partially due to a couple of major investment companies moving out of oil futures in August.

As for Lamont, I still predict his win.  Lieberman is up in the polls by 10 holding steady under 50 percent.  Here's some of my reasoning:
Lamont is riding a national wave election.  CT has registered 75,000 new voters this summer who don't make it in polls as likely voters.  Lamont has a great team and a strong ground game.  He's second on the ballot, behind the Republican in the race.
Lieberman has no ground game and a poor team.  He is relying on the Republican vote.  He is 8th of 9 on the ballot as the CFL candidate.  He's got no momentum and hasn't cleared 50%.

It'll be a sqweaker, either way, but I think it's Lamont.

BTW, sorry for the brevity here.  I put together something longer and lost it.  If you're interested in more, lemme know and I'll lay in out in more detail with links.

Anonymous, Democrats aren't going to grant "amnesty" to illegal immigrants to get new votes.  Its that the Democrats know how to deal with the problem more comprehensive, trying to satisfy all sides of the issue then jump to conclusions and coming up with wasteful plans such as building a border wall and turning them all into felons (which is unneccessary).  In fact, the government can profit from giving undocumented immigrants earned legalization ($2,000-$3,000 fines, taxes paid back that aren't already paid back, exc) and with that money they can use it to secure the border properly and reimburse hospitals, schools, social programs exc. that have lost money from the immigration problem.  Also, if you increase the penalty on employers for hiring illegal immigrants (unless they can prove that they need more workers and no one else will fill the job) than thats even more money you can use to secure the border and reimburse social programs.  Even after doing the above thats mentioned (earned citizenship, crack down on employers, and secure the border from the fines collected) you still have an immigration system thats so complex and screwd up (it can take anywhere from a few months to over a decade and anywhere from a couple hundred to $10,000+ to get here legally) that many people will still be coming here illegally because they can't get here legally otherwise.  So include a guest workers program to make it easier to come here legally, and you have sensible immigration reform that works out ALL the problems and causes of undocumented immigration.

We already have a visa, the H-3, that is perfectly designed for this.  As for the wall, that's a joke, but not a funny one.  You're talking about people who are swimming across a river, digging 200 yard tunnels, etc.  And you're talking about almost 3000 miles of wall to cover the border.

Maybe you haven't heard, but "I was just following orders" is no longer an acceptable defense.....

What orders?  I thought it was interesting information. Interesting enough to post.  Shsr pointed out that these stats were seen before, but didn't porvide a link. If they have in fact been used before, other then from the LA Times, that would also be interesting.

This crap again?  Doesn't anyone check Snopes.com anymore?
.
http://www.snopes.com/polit...
.
For example, the e-mail assumes that everyone in Los Angeles with a Hispanic surname is an illegal, including the Mayor.

Gosh Linda, if I posted everything I got in an email, this blog would be nothing but messages on refinancing.  Thanks for posting here though, where the whole thing can be debunked.

Oh, and I predicted a Dow pop after the election, though it came in today.  If it drops on Wed. when we have more predictability, it tells me that some of the big houses are trying to game the elections.

I pal that I've busted several times with snopes busted me for the "hippo eats dwarf" news article the other day. It was sweet revenge for him...

Don't be silly, Tom.  You're fogetting the Viagra ads interspersed with the refi's.
.
But Linda won't print either of those since they don't fit her prejudices...

posted by dusty1215 on Nov 6, 2006 at 12:30 PM
True dat Random..people believe what they want to believe when they hear or see something that matches their prejudicial mindset. I know I have been guilty of doing what Linda did when it comes to Bush, for example..but I also make sure that the information is verifiable before I go and publish it on a website.

As for the wall Ron is so fond of..its not going to make as much of a difference as he would like according to Pew:

"Nearly half of all the unauthorized migrants now living in the United States entered the country legally through a port of entry such as an airport or a border crossing point where they were subject to inspection by immigration officials.

As much as 45% of the total unauthorized migrant population entered the country with visas that allowed them to visit or reside in the U.S. for a limited amount of time. Known as "overstayers," these migrants became part of the illegal population when they remained after their visas had expired.

Another smaller share of the unauthorized migrant population entered the county legally from Mexico using a Border Crossing Card, a document that allows short visits limited to the border region, and then violated the terms of admission."

Which makes their "illegal" status roughly equivalent to driving around with expired license plates.
.
The only definitely illegal alien I ever knew had done just that...overstayed her visa.  From Canada.  Hell, the Governator of California was an illegal alien.

Boy, talk about dirty tricks, I just popped over to DailyKos.com.  The main page is full of blogs on dirty tricks that are happening now.  We need a congress that will stop all of this, once and for all.  Send this current crop to the shredder.
posted by dusty1215 on Nov 6, 2006 at 02:40 PM
Interesting is one thing Linda, posting outright lies is entirely another. You didn't even try to validate the information in the email before you published it, knowing full well that it is inflammatory? Thats tantamount to dirty tricks, something the Republicans are very good at.
posted by randomfactor on Nov 6, 2006 at 02:45 PM
To be fair, Dusty, Linda can't read and understand statistical information very well.  Remember her insistence that there were fatal overdoses of marijuana, posting as proof tables which contradicted her?
.
"Never ascribe to malevolence what can adequately be explained by [ignorance]."  I cleaned it up a little bit, but bet she deletes this post anyway...
posted by TomW on Nov 6, 2006 at 02:46 PM
It is dirty tricks, Dusty.  It's astroturf that has been laid down all over in the last few days.
posted by randomfactor on Nov 6, 2006 at 03:03 PM
I saw it about six weeks ago, Tom.  Not surprised it's resurfacing now, together with the Republican dirty-tricks squad with the robocalls.  Republicans can't win an honest election, and they only have to get past this one.
.
Needless to say, this didn't come from the LA Times, either.
posted by TomW on Nov 6, 2006 at 03:07 PM
You know, if they'd just learn to run the government they wouldn't have to do this.  Instead, we get a bungled war, and bungled homefront and garbage like this so they can try to save themselves.  Think back over the last four years and list all of the successful things this Republican-led country has accomplished.  Now list all the half baked plans and non-responses over the last four years.  If we had a decent media in this country, these guys would all be out on their butts.
posted by mattloch on Nov 6, 2006 at 03:33 PM
They all come from private industry, where manipulation of facts, rigged studies, and lying are all not only expected, but condoned. They get into government positions and see their jobs like that of any CEO, screw the people who do the work- if it saves your butt, screw the public- they have no right to know, and screw the taxpayer- because unlike private industry they don't have things like "consumer protections" to stop an irresponsible management. And the elections for corporate boards aren't any less rigged than the current gerrymandering of electoral districts.

I would expect these tactics to continue until the Democrats start using them. If anyone with a (D) figures out how to work that damn machine, and they do a better job of it, you'll see a sudden hue and cry to stop these "unfair" practices. I've always been tempted to start a guerrilla outfit dedicated to laying the system to waste, then showing everyone how I did it. Once the genie is out of the bag, the Republicans will ban it so fast you'll think it had something to do with sex.
posted by randomfactor on Nov 6, 2006 at 03:35 PM
It does have something to do with sex.  And the Republicans didn't even buy the country dinner first.
posted by TomW on Nov 6, 2006 at 03:44 PM
You'd think that, Mattloch.  But they'd rather just put you in jail and keep doing the same thing.  They have too much to lose.
posted by mattloch on Nov 6, 2006 at 04:17 PM
They can only put you in jail if it's illegal. They can't hold you for more than 48 hours if it's only unfair. The real trick is to find something so underhanded, so evilly excessive that nobody has had the wherewithal to ban it yet. Something that would make the legislator look like a cheap crook for even thinking it possible. Something truly monstrous, that could only come from the mind of a diabolical arch-enemy of all that is Good and Right in the world; something that would make Lex Luthor blush in a comic if he even dreamt it up. I'm thinking along the lines of junk-bonds and Love Canal; you know, real Lovecraft diseased-degenerate unworldly inhuman evil

I'm still working out the details. Let's hope that nobody comes along in 2008 that would necessitate a "nuclear option" like that.

Unless they decide you're one of them terrists, Mattloch.  No Habeas Corpus anymore, remember?
