MakesThingsGo - > Makes Things Go -> Photo Blogger
Photo Blogger

You want it, you got it.  I'm going to be working with some folks at the paper to implement some features for the photo blog.  In the meantime, let's kick this thing off right away.  I've included a pic of mine here that still needs a bit of photoshopping but I like the lines and the light.

So, couple of orders of business:  First, I'm thinking we'll just dedicate this thread to posting whatever pictures people want, but we'll also find a way to put up a weekly challenge to get people out and about.

Second, I'll get us a dedicated name for the blog by next week and I'll cook up a banner as well.  The hope is that as time goes on, we'll add a bunch of user photos to the blog banner.

Anything else you'd like to see here?

 Sunrise

Here's one from Chicago last summer.

I still have not mastered the ability to post photos on the blog.  The best I've been able to do is post a link to photobucket where the picture is stored.

Nancy, if you can get the picture on photobucket, you can get it here.  Go to your photobucket account and click on the "direct link" code.  Clicking automatically copies the link.  Then come back here and click the image above the comment box that looks like mountains with a sun over it.  In the URL box, paste the code and hit OK.

That should do it.

I forgot to add that clicking the yellow mountain with sun icon should create a pop-up window where the URL is added.  Are you getting a pop-up window?

Thing of beauty, Nancy.  Well done.

Whooohooo..I did it.  That isn't my picture but rather one my grandson took several years ago and entered in the fair.  I don't have any of mine on photobucket yet.

edited..I love the attic.  I regret that I didn't get any pictures inside of my old barn in Tehachapi before it fell down.

Now, if I worked at the paper, I might suggest to the coders that we add an "upload" function to the "insert/edit image" screen.  But that may already be in the works.

You're in the club, Nancy.  I'm thinking of putting together a FAQ page for the NUCH blog.  I'll add "add a picture" to that list.

Thanks, Nancy.  My favorite part is the light coming up though the lath.

Exactly Tom..mine too.  In my old barn I remember the dust motes floating in the air in the many shafts of light coming through the old boards.  I never had such a feeling of peace.  What a picture that would have made.

Taken on Lerdo Highway looking west at the sunset through the smoke from the fire on the coast last year.  I didn't reallize it time stamped photos...I doubt I've ever set the clock on my camera.  This always reminded me of an atomic explosion.

I'm not sure, Nancy, but I think I can see an image of the Virgin Mary in there.  :)

I really like that one.  I see what you mean about the atomic blast too.

Nancy what did you do........ the margins ha ha

posted by NancyII on Mar 4, 2008 at 10:23 AM

Gads..I really blew them didn't I gube.  I'm not sure how to fix it as I don't have photoshop and hate the program I have for photos.  I'll work on it....maybe I can figure it out.  My old camera sized them for me.

I used to see that scene every day when leaving work and finally stopped one evening at close to sunset to capture it.  What an eerie time.

Nancy, if you edit the comment, you can delete the photo and then post it again.  This time when you put the link in, there's a box for width and height.  if you set the width to 400 or less, it should look fine.

Of course, I'd like to see hard margins or auto-resizing imposed, but that's just me...

ha ha I couldn't resist the jab Nancy.

No problem gube...I'm not THAT sensitive..LOL.

I resized it twice with photobucket and this time it said thumbnail size.  That's a mighty big thumbnail.  Is it better though?  I can't tell.

Part of the problem is that we're all using different screen resolutions.  It never blew the margins on my screen, so it's tough for me to judge.

I can't find the photo link to the local pictures.  I'll put it here then move it when Tom or Robin helps with the spot.  Too bad that one can't stay on here permanently.  This is one of the last visable remaining oil derriks around here.  Not the best picture but I couldn't get close and the lighting was poor that day.  Gotta get that date stamp off or at least set the correct date.  It was taken last month.
