Bakersfield builder wins design award

Bakersfield builder M.S. Walker Companies has won a design award for its Southern California Orthopedic Institute building at 2400 Bahamas Drive in the southwest.

The company won in the private sector-under $15 million category of the 2009 Design Build Industry Association, Western Pacific region.

Jurors said the building’s “striking architecture molded into a difficult site” set it apart from other entries, according to an M.S. Walker press release.
