Pre-Halloween Christmas displays

Weekend of Oct. 11-12, there are Christmas trees and garland for sale at Costco.

Anyone else see any premature Christmas elation?

Tim Burton is a financial genius ... What a Coup !

He pre-co-opted Christmas, and Halloween,  too.

It's already on the news that retail is showing signs of a better Christmas than last year,

The storefronts in Tehachapi all have their Christmas displays up. They are really pretty but I am not interested in seeing Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving, much less before Halloween. I like Halloween better anyway.

virgil...Do you have a point?

I like to get through Halloween before I start thinking about Christmas, but I do appreciate the chance to take advantage of bargains ahead of time, and get any shopping I can out of the way before Black Friday!  I know a lot of people who are completely done shopping by Thanksgiving.  They are then baking, decorating, attending fun events, while I'm at the mall, and they are probably enjoying a good nights rest while I'm on the living room floor wraping presents at 2:00am and watching Andy Griffith reruns.  Ooohh, that sounds like fun though.  :)

"virgil...Do you have a point?"

Well, I think the President is doing a great job managing an Economy disrupted by the policies of the prior presidential administration, don't you, Nancy ?

I think VirgilAnderson has been smoking the pipe too long! Take a breathe and see where this country is headed under the current administration!

The country is headed in the same direction it always has been.  We will continue to believe in the voodoo economics that is American capitalism and look for some new country to exploit so that the good American people can continue to buy stuff. When Obama's administration has ended, we will continue to be a consumer society that will have to buy stuff to perpetuate the dream.

As others have said, there's Christmas displays everywhere... Target, Home Depot, Lowes... I first saw Lowes and Home Depot putting up their displays about a month ago when I was driving around trying to find the right stem valve in stock for my shower. It wasn't even October and there were the blow-up lawn ornaments and Christmas trees. Used to be the only place you'd find Christmas this early was a craft store, because people need to start working on crafts now to get them done in time.

stores sell everything earlier now, in hopes our lawn decor will be ruined by brat teenagers and hoodlums, and we have to buy more...like candy, i am sure soon enough i will give-in and buy candy for the lil' goblins ~ only to have it attacked by my own baby birds, and will need to buy more (not that I would eat any....nope)
