Once again Nancy demonstrates why I call her a hypocrite. She complains when we bring up Palin, saying Palin is not relevant, but here she is bring up Palin. How does it work having it both ways?
Palin won't be remembered by 2012. She has no chance of keeping her current office and would get crushed by Lisa Murkowski in 2010 if she runs for Congress. I highly encourage the rightwingers to contribute to her PAC.

I have it good authority that Sarah Palin will not attend because she doesn't want to get picked on by all those elitists. Tina Fey will appear in her stead. posted by

TSM, there's a world of difference between dragging her name into discussions where there is no foundation the way the left bloggers here do, and me reporting a news event. If you can't see that difference then no wonder you don't know what a hypocrite is. I've ALWAYS supported her. Once again, you've shown your tail...no surprise there. posted by

Nancy, again, I applaud you for continually bringing up Moosolini's name here. There's a real danger she'll be forgotten by 2012 and someone *COMPETENT* might get nominated on the Republican side. posted by

Ahhhh RF, I know you'd like to believe that....so go ahead, if it makes you feel better. :-) Oh, and I'm not the one who continually brings up her name in here, I'm just the one who pokes fun at you guys for your obsession (fear) with her. I'm just a supporter, like I've always been. No need for me to obsess. You guys who think you're so cute with your cutesy names might do well to remember context when her name is mentioned. This was a news article, not a dirty little slam. posted by

If it comforts you and profits the Democrats politically for you to believe that, go ahead. . You guys who think you're so cute with your cutesy names might do well to remember context when her name is mentioned. Oh, we consider the context to be part of the joke. See, the only reason she's showing up at the Alfalfa Dinner is to audition for the role of Darla. She may even bring a moose with a black eye... posted by

We bring her up the EXACT same way you do, by starting a blog about her. But for some odd reason, you find it to be different. I also noticed you were silent on her having dinner with Nixon's fellow Jew hater.

Sarah Palin, a day late and a dollar short: Last week in a January 22nd ADN story, Alaskans were horrified to discover that the U.S. Army cut off or reduced retirement payments to 26 Alaska Native elders who had served in the Territorial Guard...protecting Alaska against Japan during WWII.
"...a military analysis determined the law recognizing the Alaska Territorial Guard's service as federal active duty had initially been misinterpreted. Under the new interpretation, service in the five-year-guard no longer counts in calculating the military's 20-year minimum for retirement pay." By January 23rd, Senators Lisa Murkowski and Mark Begich had already 1) Talked about it on the Senate floor 2) Sent a letter to President Obama and, 3) "are preparing legislation clarifying that service in the territorial guard counts as active duty for calculating retirement pay, she told her Senate colleagues." On January 28th, the ADN printed a story that the Army decided to reinstate the payments to these WWII heroes. It was only then, when the Army decided they would pay for it, that Governor Sarah Palin sprung into action...a week later...and at 5:00 pm in the evening...
January 28, 2009, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sarah Palin applauded Secretary of the Army Pete Geren's decision to continue retirement payments to the Alaska Territorial Guard members on a temporary basis. A congressional fix will be needed to fully reinstate the retirement money rightfully earned by these veterans. Ummmm...duh...I think that our Delegation is wayyyyy ahead of you. Now, readers, brace yourself for the irony:
"Rural Alaskans face the highest food and energy costs in the nation, and these veterans need their retirement checks now more than ever," Governor Palin said. "Using the emergency fund to provide monetary protection for these 26 veterans is the right thing to do." Yeah, cause it's not state emergency money...right Governor?
Governor Palin sent a letter directly to President Barack Obama asking him to honor these Native Alaskan veterans who gave their service without question during World War II, and asked for nothing in return. She urged the president to immediately reinstate their retirement benefits. So, this would be a January 27th letter to President Obama sent after the Alaska Delegation already sent a letter to him a week ago and are already drafting the legislation that the Governor said needs to be drafted. Think there is a little disconnect between the Governor and the Alaska Delegation?

Palin doesn't even bother to phone it in: As a new homeowner and decor fiend, I was tipped-off by a friend to a "Native art opportunity" this past weekend during the Southcentral Foundation's 12th Annual Gathering at the Dena'ina Center. I had also planned to go as a blogger because the focus was going to be on one of my issues...healthcare. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it. However, my friend called me up to let me know that he heard some amazing scuttlebutt while he was there. It seems that this gathering is an annual event which always draws all of the politicians and state leaders. This year was no exception and I guess even a few of the mayoral candidates were sighted (oh dear, if they are together too long will they multiply?), as well as a number of legislators. However, there was one, glaring absence from the festivities...care to make a wager? You got it...it seems that the crowd couldn't help making note of the fact that Governor Palin didn't show up nor did anyone see a representative. So, she hasn't gone out to the Aleutians yet to offer hope and consolation, however she managed to help Glen Beck kick off his new show last week and she'll be hanging with all of the "non-partisan" (wink, wink) folks this weekend in DC. I've started asking myself: Is this a signal that she isn't even going to bother running in 2010 so she can focus on her presidential campaign?

Pailn's ethic problems are not going away: Anchorage resident and registered Republican Andrée McLeod has filed two separate ethics complaints this morning with the Attorney General's Office. McLeod charges that Governor Palin press secretary Bill McAllister and governor's office director and long-time Palin friend Kris Perry used state property, time and equipment to promote Palin for her personal and political gain. posted by

Witters It's not just a case of knowing where a country is, it's a case of understanding the dynamics of that country. It's history, people, ideology, military capability, industrial capability. The fact that it exists at all. Is she going to go through life like this :-O Why have a president at all if every intelligence decision will be deferred to the advisors. At some point, Sara Palin is going to have to pick up a book and educate herself. posted by

AUDREY: Why have a president at all if every intelligence decision will be deferred to the advisors You're kidding right? Who do you think runs this country? I would venture to guess it is 99% the advisors telling the president what they think should be done, then the president saying, "I have been advised we should do this or that." No president, on his/her own, makes ultimate decisions without consulting the people in the know, otherwise why have advisors? Not to mention Congress having a say in the matter! Even Iraq was not totally Mr. Bush's decision. He admitted later he should have talked more and thought it through more instead of going just on the advise he was given. That is the reason I think it is ludicrous to blame any president totally for mistakes made while in office; yes even obama.

AUDREY: Yes, Obama is the president now. However, my point is, he does not run things all by himself! He doesn't lock the oval office and make decisions all by himself. He has ADVISERS who tell him what they think. Granted he makes the final decision, but he talks to others first. At least I hope to God he does!!!!! Advisors help the President make executive decisions. He's responsible for whatever policy is implemented and the outcomes regardless of who is on the cabinet or in top level positions. Let's lose the bush/Cheney bashing OK? they are done. they are gone. That's good advice. Won't do much good continually bashing them while problems pile up. posted by

JF: but there are still "people" who put in their 2-cents worth. Yes, ultimately the pres. calls the final shot and the buck stops there. AUDREY: I thought I was addressing Ms. Palin's shortcomings. She would not be making decisions without advisory assistance. Personally, IMO, I'm bettin' she is the kind of person who, if, she does not know or understand something, she WILL read up on it/look it up. NOBODY understands everything all the time - not even obama! Again, that is why they have advisors. It is my understanding his foreign affairs knowledge is very limited - do ya think he is going to become a stormin' normin' without asking his foreign affairs "people". I doubt it. That is one of the reasons he wanted to get his "team" in place befor being sworn in - so he could pick their brains and try to get a feeling for what the hell is going on in the world!
