THE NEW SUPERMARKET

The new supermarket near our house has an automatic
water mister to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you
hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.

When you approach the milk cases, you hear cows mooing
and witness the scent of fresh hay.

When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cluck
and cackle and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and
eggs frying.

The veggie department features the smell of fresh
buttered corn.





I don't buy toilet paper there any more

This is going around the internet again and since it's fun I thought I'd share it with you folks.  Feel free to add your own experiences.  The only thing I ask is PLEASE do not make political comments.  This is just for fun.

Idiot Sightings!!!!
Be careful, be very  careful

IDIOT  SIGHTING: Gene and I had to have the garage door repaired. The Sears
repairman told  us that one of our problems was that we did not have a
"large" enough  motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that
we had the largest one Sears made at that time a 1/2 horsepower. He shook
his head and said, "Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower." I responded that 1/2
was  larger than 1/4. He said, "NO, it's not." Four is larger than two. We
haven't used Sears for repairs since.

IDIOT  SIGHTING: I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new
neighbor call the local  township administrative office to request the
removal of theDeer Crossing  sign on our road. The reason: "Too many deer
are being hit  by cars out  here! I don't think this is a good place for
them to be crossing anymore.  "From Kingman ,  KS

IDIOTS IN FOOD  SERVICE: My daughter went to  a local Taco Bell and ordered
a taco. She asked the person behind the  counter for "minimal lettuce." He
said he was sorry, but they only had ice  burg. He was a Chef? Yep...From
Kansas City

IDIOT  SIGHTING: I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an
airport employee  asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without
your knowledge. To  which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how
would I know?" He  smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask."
Happened in Birmingham,  Ala.

IDIOT  SIGHTING: The stoplight on the corner buzzes when its safe to cross
the street. I  was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of
mine.She asked  if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it
signalsblind  people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, "What
on earth are blind people doing driving?!" She was a probation officer in
Wichita  , KS

IDIOT  SIGHTING: At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker. She
was leaving the  company due to "downsizing." Our manager commented
cheerfully, "This is  fun. We should do this more often." Not another word
was spoken. We all  just looked at each other with that
deer-in-the-headlights stare. This was  a bunch at Texas  Instruments.

IDIOT  SIGHTING: I work with an  individual who plugged her power strip back
into itself and for the sake  of her own life, couldn't understand why her
system would not turn on. A  deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs
office no less.

IDIOT SIGHTING: When my husband and  I arrived at an automobile dealership
to pick up our car, we were told the  keys had been locked in it. We went to
the service department and found a  mechanic working feverishly to unlock
the driver's side door. As I watched  from the passenger side, I
instinctively tried the door handle and  discovered that it was unlocked.
"Hey," I announced to the technician,  "its open! His reply, "I know - I
already got that side."This was at the Ford dealership in  Canton
,Mississippi  !

STAY ALERT! They walk among us...  and they REPRODUCE!!!

Unions and county clash over contracts...  
Any comments on this article?

......"Three county unions picketed on Truxtun Avenue Tuesday morning before two of them headed inside the Kern County Administrative Center to appeal to county supervisors to give them a contract.

General county workers, sheriff's deputies and detention officers marched in union colors -- waving signs at the downtown traffic.

They want better pay.

A fourth county union -- representing probation officers -- has filed a labor action against the county charging its negotiators are failing to make a fair effort to reach a contract."

It seems I inadvertantly deleted this post while thinking I was deleting another.  Sigh..some days I'm concerned about my head.

The story is here.. http://www.tehachapinews.co... about the Tehachapi toddler who was removed by CPS and placed in foster care.  6 weeks later she was returned to her grandmother covered in bruises.  It's under investigation.

OK..someone had to start a blog on the get together.

Personally I had a great time.  I didn't get to visit as much as I'd like with a couple of the bloggers but overall it was really nice to put faces to names.

I want to thank the Californian staff for putting this together and giving us an opportunity to talk live to folks we've been blogging with.  Some were fairly new and others have been around for a while.  No matter..all were fun to meet.

Class and Tattoos

 

Do we still have a class system these days?  And if we do, what part do tattoos play in it?  Would we see people from what is traditionally known as “upper class” sporting sleeves?  Would we see “blue blood” folks shaving their heads and tattooing their scalp?  Would we see politicians wearing low rider pants with tattoos across the ummm..derriere?  (Maybe that would help their popularity.)  We see actors and models now sporting tattooed arm bands but would we want our super models to be all tatted up?  Katherine Hepburn was a very classy lady and somehow I can't see her with ANY kind of tattoo.

 

I’m curious as to what the rest of you folks think about this.  The levels were (in my sociology class) Lower lower class, lower class, upper lower class, lower middle class, middle class, upper middle class, lower upper class, upper class, and I guess, upper upper class.  We were told at that time that people rarely moved more than one position up the class scale in their generation.  (So much for Pygmalion and all the movies to follow.)

 

What are your thoughts on class and tattoos?  And what do you think about how many a person has having anything to do with class?  Remember this is a generalization about how people perceive others.

Once again we have passed that monument to efficiency called Presidents Day.  Not only do most holidays now occur on Monday or Friday, some also must do double duty so we celebrate simultaneously the lives of two men born almost 100 years apart. 
 
And it isn't just birthdays that get combined:  the arbitrary birthday of Jesus gets combined with the documented events of Chanukah and the invented celebration of Kwanza at the Wiccan winter solstice--- even Jesus is not considered unique.  Easter doesn't count because it is on Sunday, every time.
 
Which brings us to the only remaining vestige of celebratory inefficiency:  Martin Luther King Day.  Since Columbus Day has also been eliminated, this is the only holiday devoted to just one man.  Consequently, progressive legislation has been introduced to bring it also into the modern era.  After a careful selection process involving a less than significant cross section of the public, another gentleman has been chosen to augment Dr. MLK, so that the day will henceforth honor both of them simultaneously.  That selected person was Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger. 
 
Dr. Burger, a strict interpreter of the constitution,  was appointed to the US Supreme Court in 1967 where he upheld the right of judges to order busing students to help achieve the dream of Dr. King.
 
Be it resolved, therefore, that commencing in 2008 AD, the third Monday in January will be the annual celebration of these two outstanding leaders, officially designated National Burger King Day.
