It's that time of year again, Spring is right around the corner, you managed to survive the winter, and all those Holiday meals and treats. Now you're thinking about all those cute Spring and Summer fashions, and hoping that they'll look as good on you as you'd like them to.

There's great news for you. It's all well within your grasp. You can have the body you want with a little bit of discipline and some hard work. If you want it bad enough, anything is possible. I think you're worth it, don't you? There are three (3) essential elements to consider to achieving success in this endeavor.

   (1) The most important muscle in the body is your heart. Cardiovascular activity is the key to caloric expenditure. Simply put, the more active you are the more calories you will burn. Run, walk, dance, bike, rollerblade, swim, play tennis, golf etc. etc.
    (2) Resistance work through weights, bands, bodyweight etc. allows you to tone, trim and sculpt your body as well as rev up your metabolism for 2 to 3 days and allow your body to burn calories more efficiently. It also reverses the ionic charge of your bones and enables your body to absorb calcium more efficiently. (helping to prevent osteoporoisis)
    (3) Last, but certainly not least is diet and nutrition. Eating properly is the cornerstone to reaching all your health and fitness goals. Your caloric intake can't exceed your caloric expenditure or the excess calories will be stored as fat on your body. A shift to healthier foods will give you more energy, strength, and stamina to face the challenges of each day.
Combining these three (3) key ingredients will put you on the fast track to the body that you want. Cardio training will burn those calories, but not significantly speed up your metabolism. Weights will speed up your metabolism, but will not burn a significant amount of calories. And a balanced eating plan of smaller portions will ensure that your body will respond by shedding unwanted pounds.
