Rain, Rain, Rain!
It's raining here, so much, that I, now think I'm in a lake, I'm glad for rain, we have a need, but too much takes the cake. We have not seen a sunny sky, for more than half an hour, It's rained so much, I think that I, am in a constant shower. It looks like springtime's over, at least the date says so, It's summer on the calendar, but I need a boat to row. My front lawn feels like squishy sponge, the driveway's pools of water, My son can't pick his things up and I haven't seen my daughter. The rain keeps everyone at home in warm and cozy houses, Keeping all the children in, and sharing time with spouses. No one is in the yards to work, we cannot mow the lawns, Because the rains are soaking them from dawn to dawn to dawn. I'm sorry, it sounds awful, all that whining and complaining, But really, for a while, at least, I want it to stop raining! 3 comments from 2 users

Pethaven: Reminds me of a very, very old movie entitled -- what else? "Rain." If my creaky memory is not too creaky, the author of the book or story on which the movie was based was W. Somerset Maugham. Rain had straggled travelers in a lodge; the character interactions were electric. Getting back to your poem -- sorry my mind strayed so -- we've all been there; I've been there today. Steady, slow, non-stop, soaking rain. I don't hear any fireworks. posted by

Pethaven: I'm sorry it's still raining. Our 4th was a wash-out; the 5th was wonderful, the 6th was okay, but today was a beautiful early-summer day (for the Midwest). Hope it dries out in a hurry -- I hate squishy grass.
