How to post a photo on PhotoBlogger

Upload your photo to an Internet server, such as Flickr, Photobucket, etc. You can also upload it to Bakersfield.com by clicking on "My Settings," then the drop-down menu for "My Media," and then "Upload Media."

Copy the URL for your photo. (If you are looking at your list of photos on Bakersfield.com, right-click or control-click the filename and choose "copy link location.")

In the comment field of the blog, choose the mountain/sun icon to insert an image. Paste the URL into the field in the Image Properties pop-up box. (Note: Clicking the "Browse" button won't work.) Hit OK.

You can resize the photo by clicking on it and dragging a corner in or out. You can also align your photo and make other style changes in the Image Properties box. To access the Image Properties box, right-click or control-click the image and choose "Image Properties."

Weekly photo themes -- keep 'em or toss 'em?

Last week Tom asked about whether to keep the weekly photo themes or let this blog be a free-for-all to post whichever photos you choose to post and have taken yourself. I'm not sure what to do, so let's all discuss this together.

Without the themes, it might draw more people in because it'll be less difficult to find a picture to post. But with the themes, it's just something fun and creative to do for the heck of it. So, bloggers, what say you? Keep 'em or toss 'em?

What kind of pictures have you taken within this past week? Let's see them.

Robin, sorry I've been falling down on the photoblog.  Trying to wrap up a few things here.  I'll get recommitted very soon.

As for the themes, I'm torn since having a theme is a good way to get motivated to get out and get pictures, but having it open may encouage more participation.

Not having a theme is a good idea since I didn't had one to contribute for the last blog.

edited..I cannot figure out how to get the date stamp off my pictures.  The booklet doesn't say how to do it.

Whether there is a theme or not does not matter to me. Here is what I have been up to in the past week.....

Shutter speed 1/4000 with an aperture of 9.0

Hey, great idea for an ongoing theme.  "What Were You Up To Last Week"

By the way, grandson got notified that one of his pictures will be in National Geographic Adventure Magazine in May.  He made sure I understood it isn't in the NG mag itself.  lol.

Nancy, click the Menu button on your camera (assuming it's a digital camera) and it should give you some options -- one of which is to include or exclude the date on your photos.  Hope that helps.

Thanks Rett but I've been all over that menu.  I must be missing something somewhere.  All I can find is how to set the date.  It's probably something simple that I'm just missing.

Joining the photo party late here....yeah, I like the idea of "what did you do this week"...or really whatever strikes us.

Here comes a couple pics...these are my girls at Montana de Oro.  We took a day trip Saturday...

I wouldn't worry about it, Tom. It's 5:15 p.m. and I'm just now getting back to the blogs. I've been bad about the photo blog, too. I'll shower at 3 a.m., remember I need to start the blog, go to bed around 4 a.m., play video games until 5 a.m., wake up at 6:30 a.m. and have the final blog posted by 7 a.m. Then, it's straight back to bed for me. Ack...I'm terrible. I need to change habits.

Anyway, yeah, I know what you mean about the weekly themes. It's the same thought in my head, but everyone seems to like the idea of having a blog to post whatever they did during the past week. That's OK with me, I guess, because it would certainly be hard for me to keep up with the topics, too.

Nancy, I wish I could see the camera myself and figure it out for you. Sorry. What kind of camera do you have? I'll see if I can find the book online and read it for myself. I feel like a jerk for admitting this, but I don't think I'll be going to the park for the next meet-up, because I don't feel like asking my parents. Don't ask. I'm thinking, though, we ought to do one around summer or something, and I might go to one of those. For now, I just don't think I should go.

That's so cool, Tolerance! I love it! The baseball, the action, the way they're positioned -- it's all just awesome! I'd like to try shooting some sports at some time, even though I don't like sports, but I don't know anyone who does sports anymore. I guess I'll have to wait and hope I can take John Harte's photography class in the fall. Are those Little League, Boy Scouts, or what? Or am I crazy and they're actually men? I can't tell.

Once again, Woof, your pictures are beautiful! Really, they are! Wish I could get some pictures like that, but I never go anywhere...ha ha.

Sigh. The most disappointing part of posting a picture is not being able to see the EXIF data. That is one thing I'd like to be able to see, but I'm figuring it's probably impossible on B.com. Oh, well.
