Dozens of residents of a southwest Bakersfield neighborhood found their car and truck windows broken by vandals over the weekend.

Becky Sheldon said she and her husband, Tim, came back from the dog park Saturday evening to discover a window in his work truck had been partially shot out, apparently with a BB gun. A police car was in the area roughly south of Wilson Road and east of Real Road as other vehicles had been vandalized as well.

When the Sheldons woke up Sunday morning, a window in her Dodge Ram had been smashed out with a bat or similar large object.

"It was not just us," said Sheldon.

The Sheldons estimated more than 30 vehicles had been hit.

Becky Sheldon's daughter Rachel Legan, a morning co-host on KGFM 101.5, posted photos of damaged vehicles on her blog http://rachelatkgfm.blogspo...

As of Sunday evening, Sheldon wasn't aware of anyone in the area who saw or heard the vandals at work.

"Nobody knows anything," she said.

A watch commander at the police department had no information about the incidents Sunday night.

Bakersfield.com has some of the best group of bloggers  around which is why I'm turning to you for some help.

I nearly caused a fire in my microwave earlier this week and am still paying for it two days later and I don't know how to fix it.

I'm attaching a link to my "Blogger" post (picture and all) but I would appreciate any solutions to my issue on the Bakersfield.com site.

Our morning show listeners have suggested everything from cutting onions and leaving them everywhere (stinky) to getting some type of cleaner that I can't even remember much less pronounce. Thanks for any suggestions! Rachel

Perusing this site last night I came across the story of the Active 20-30 club's annual Childspree. An incredible event helping underprivileged school kids.Looking at the smiling faces in the pictures Casey Christie shot, one stood out.The woman grinning ear to ear with a gorgeous scarf around her head.Having seen most members of my family go through chemotherapy,I immediately thought "Look at that woman, she has probably just been through some sort of cancer treatment.A harrowing experience for anyone yet here she is not letting it get her down and she is out helping others".

It was only this morning when opening the paper I read the caption below the picture that this brave woman was Wendy Wayne. You may know Wayne was diagnosed in early March with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. If you know Wendy at all or have ever even been in her presence you also know that she is a "Do-er".

I haven't seen or talked to Wendy in a long time but like Steve Swenson (who helped himself and countless others by chronicling his journey through treatment on these pages) it is obvious to me that she has not let this body invader take her spirit.I am in awe of people like her.

My admiration goes out to the "Swensons" and "Waynes" of the world who have or have had cancer and never let that cancer have them!
