Great Saturday at the Tournament.
Saturday at the Order Of The Dragon Martial Arts Tournament was a good day For the family. My Grandson (Black Belt) won a trophy and a Silver Metal in Weapons and Sparring. My Granddaughter also won a trophy and a Silver Metal in Sparring and Forms.
My Granddaughters friend who we have semi adopted Won a Trophy in Sparring and a Silver Metal in Forms also. Dom lives with his Grand Mother in the Cottonwood area and is a great kid. He is 17, carries a 3.7 G.P.A., Is active in JROTC and band. They have very little money so we have helped him get started in Martial Arts and supplied his fees and supplies. To see him come along and learn so quick is very satisfying. My Grand kids invite him over to their house to practice so he in effect has two very good tutors. 8 comments from 3 users

Roy..congratulations on your grandkids triumphs. It's really exiciting isn't it? I guess you saw last spring when my granddaughter Katie (purple belt in Jujitsu) and her hunny bunny Mason (black belt, Jujitsu) married at the Dojo in Isabella. I am awed at the respect and grace these young people learn when they get involved in Martial Arts. I know you're a positive influence and support system for them...keep up the good work. posted by

One of my best friends is a nationally ranked martial arts competitor and instructor. He started in special forces in the Army and continued throughout his life. Of all the people I have ever met in my entire life he has the most even, "non-flappable in any situation" disposition of them all. I have often wondered if it is the SF training or Martial Arts. I suspect a combination of the two (and other life experiences) but I'm sure the MA has a lot to do with it. When a person knows how to really handle themself in weaponless defense, it gives them an air of serenity that is unmistakable. I've never known anyone who was really good in MA of any kind that was a bully. posted by
