Whats your oppinion on the Economical situation and the event called Economical Suicide? I believe the worst thing you can do today is quit. a crappy job is better than no job. If you quit a job now, the likely hood that you will find another is next to impossible. So why commit Economical Suicide? Oppinions? I have taken quite some time off lately from everything in order to get things in order. I am back. I say again, if you have any questions about wicca, paganism or any other spiritual aspect, you can ask me and I will give you my oppinion. Ive recently figured out that maybe I was a little too cocky about my abilities. College is no where near easy. And even more so when you have a full schedule. Ive learned my lesson though. I have to take it seriously. Im busy so I wont be on a lot but Ill try. I am disappointed that Californians continue to strip the rights away from so many deserving and loving people. I am also disappointed that the people of California have forfgotten all the core aspects that made California the State to be in. "Equality for all!" The Nations motto. It has been tossed aside this election with no regard to whom Proposition 8 may hurt. All races and ethnicities, women and children, have fought for rights that they continue to hold dear. The pain they suffered for those rights, the obstacles they had to fight through and overcome, are now being thrown at someone else. All those struggles have been forgotten and disregarded, giving way to a prejudice religious thought, idea, that no longer stands for justice. I am disappointed. Hurt. Some of my close friends hopes are shattered, all I could do is stand by and watch as you did the shattering. Those who stood together in the fight, I applaud you. I also applaude your continuing to fight. We must lead the charge and not allow these wrongs to continue. God or no God, we are all humans. We have the capacity to accept those people different than us. I have the capacity to realize the pain we caused, continue to cause. We are all fighting to make this world a better place. CHANGE! Change is needed. We all must look within ourselves. Can you find that you truly wish these people ill? NO. Can you say beyond a shadow of a doubt that they should not be allowed to marry? NO. No. Although I know this is just my oppinion, I have taken it into my heart that the people of the United States, California, have the Capacity to accept this. Let them be happy! Let them be proud! Let them be whole... Silverowl 11/06/08 This Tuesday, November 4th is a day that will be remembered many ways. I will remember it in one of two. One, that the open-mindedness of the United States public allowed for progression into a new dawn of political, social and ethical reforms. Two, that we have not learned from our past transgretions, mistakes and political fiascals and allowed a restricting and all around outdated outlook to survive for even longer than what should be accepted. It is time for a change in the leadership of this great country. I believe that Barrack Obama is that change. He is fresh and new, and should not be counted out when it comes to difficult positions in leading this country. Race should never be a factor in choosing a leader, his/her ability to lead the country shoud. When should also look at the injustice in Proposition 8. No matter your veiws on marriage itself, not allowing a specific set of people to be married is wrong. You are removing the rights of your peers because they are different from you. This is a biased proposition that would allow the rights that we all deserve to be stripped away and allow outdated restrictions to go on into the future. Gender should not play a role in marriage, commitment and love should. Although I know my views are very different from others, I will say: Look at the position and admit to yourself what you would want to happen had you been in the concerned peoples shoes?
Silverowl The Wheel of the Year is the Wiccan calender for religious holidays and the seasons. This explains part of the reason why I think that the Wiccan faith is extraordinarily hard to understand from the religious point of view. The stories and myths that tie into the seasons, our holidays and the year are intertwined and hard to tell without the other parts as well. >The Creation Story In the beginning of the universe, the Weaver exsited alone. The weaver, a female spirit (The Lady), knew that the other half of the weaver, the male spirit ( The Lord), needed to exist along side her; together as a whole in order to create the univerese and the balance in it. She created her other half and they intertwined becoming one, each one a half of the Weaver. Together they created the stars, the planets and the moons. They created the universe. On earth they made Water, land, Planets, Animals and Humans. The Weaver is both male and female spirit; equal to each other. From the union of the Lord the Lady came the seeds for life. Each chose thier physical symbols in the world that corresponed best with their individual aspects. The Lord chose the Sun, fiery and bright; unyeilding. the Lady chose the Moon, radiant and calm; changable. Though these aspects were their strongest difference, they also had a little of each other in them. These symbols were chosen to remind the world that they are there, watching over us all. >The halves of the Year These halves of the year are shown as the dark half and the bright half. The Holly King is the ruler of the dark half of the year. The Oak King is the ruler of the bright half of the year. At the beginning of the Spring and Fall, these two engage in a battle in order to take their rightful places on the throne. This battle can be re-enacted many ways including one on one combat by actors or a water balloon fight between two sides. >Birth of the Seasons In the beginning of the Earh, the seasons were started. At Samhain (October 31st), Pronounced SOW-wen or Sah -VEEn, we celebrate the Witches New Year. We also mourn the Lord, who has died after a long year/life of work. Witches honor the dead on this night and relieve the happy moments with those who have past. We can also set out a supper for those who have past called Dumb Supper. At Yule, prounced Yool, (the Winter Solstice) in December, the Lady gives birth to the Lord. He is seen as a new born, the renewed Sun. On this night, the longest night of the year, we celebrate this by exchanging gifts and burning the Yule Log. The gifts represent the rebirth of the Lord and the Flame of the Sun. At Imbolc (February 2nd), pronounced IM-bolc, the Lord is seen as a growing youngling and the Lady recovers from birth. On this day, Spring is felt coming and it is time for a new beginning. Spring will soon begin. It is usually celebrated by beginning your spring cleaning. It's a great time for new beginnings; Initiations, Wiccanings and new endeavors like Handfastings or Marriages. At Ostara (March 21st), pronounced oh-STAR-ah, the Lord is seen as a growing by as well as the Lady. They are both seen as Young and Innocent at this time of the year. It also marks the first day of Spring and awakening of the Earth. It is usually celebrated by the coloring boiled eggs and planting saplings or blessing the seeds for planting. At Beltane (April 30th), pronounced BEL-tayne, the Lord is seen as a grown man now. He soon falls in love with the Lady and they unite in a Handfasting, creating the bounty of the Earth. The Lady becomes pregnant at this time with/by the Lord. It is usually celebrated with the dancing around a Maypole. Some also celebrate with the cauldron seeing it as a symbol of the Lady and her pregnancy. At Litha (the Summer Solstice), prounounced LEE-tha, the Lord and Lady are seen at the peak of their powers. This is a joyous day but is admittedly a little sad because after this day, the longest day of the year, days will become shorter and the strength of the Lord will wane. Beltane is celebrated with a large bonfire, jumping over it is traditional. This is the longest day of the year and turns toward the darker days of the year. At Lughnassad (August 2nd), prounounced LOO-nus-uh, the Lord is seen as becoming weaker. Fall harvest traditionally begins at this time and so feasts are held to celebrate the bounty of the year. At Mabon (September 21st), pronounced MAY-bon, the Lord is coming to his end and the days are getting shorter and shorter. Soon he will die and Samhain and be reborn on Yule. This is the second harvest fistival of the year and so is celebrated with another feast just before the days grow frigid and the nights come quicker. We, as well as the Lord, prepare for his Death and so honor him on this day. Well, at least this is my understanding of the Wheel of the year. Blessed Be! Blessed Be! Silverowl Cropcircles I do not know much about but I can talk about Stonehenge for a bit. Although I know only a little, I do have a small theory about the area and why Stonehenge was created, the way it may have been used and the reason it was sacred. I can elaborate if would like more later and I would definately love to here your theories, beliefs and ideas. If you remain interested jcowherd, then post some stuff here and when I compile my stuff I will post it. Should be next week or so. I find the afterlife an interesting topic because of the fact that we can not investigate it. We do not know if it exists, if our ideas of it are valid or if we have any choices in it or not. Now from the Christian point of view, there are three sections of life after death. There is Heaven where you go to rest after a long and gruelling life on Earth in the Lords presence. There is Hell where you are ruled and punished for your mistakes on Earth by the Fallen One, the Devil. There is also Purgatory where Demons and lost souls dwell until Redemtion and the Last Coming. I believed this for a long time as a result of my raising and a personal choice when I was very young. From my view of the afterlife, through Wiccan study, I have come to rethink a great many of these things I previously feared or liked. I believe in the concept of reincarnation, which is the rebirth of the soul in different incarnations in order to learn life lessons (Explained very well by the definitions of the Major Arcana in the Tarot) and progress to an enlightened state of existence. Also believe in the Sunny Vale. This is a very different from the Christian belief I was raised with, but in some instances, the same. The Sunny Vale is like a staging area where you rest and contemplate your progress through your lives. This means looking at all the mistakes as well as all the good things you may have done. You may even contemplate what will come next for you. After you have learned all of those life lessons then you can choose to commune with the Lord and the Lady, The Weaver (And any other name you can find) or you can help those who are still learning their lessons on Earth. This means becoming a spirit Guides of sorts. I also have a friend who believes he will become a ball of light and float where he wants to go. He suggest that you may be able to explore the things that a hman is not able to do, like exploring the surface of Venus or Mercury. My point in the three different beliefs here is that I also believe that what you believe will happen will be the End result. You make your own destiny while in the hands of the Weaver. If you believe you will go to Hell, you might. If I want to rest in the Sunny Vale I will. If he wants to be a ball of light on Venus, he can be. Its you life AND afterlife to make. The Gods(and Godesses) we perceive are not nescesarily different, only perceived differently by humans. Remember I do not speak for all. It is my oppinion that I am expressing. Hope you enjoy, fell free to ask me to elaborate. I will try to answer as soon as possible. Blessed Be!! Recently, I have had the misfortune of meeting some very narrow minded peoples. This is mostly focused on their beliefs in marriage. I am aim at a couple particular debates over marriage. one is the religious significance of marriage and divorce and the other is the debate over Same Sex marriages. First, I would like to explain my stance, then I look forward to the discussion that I hope will ensue. I believe, as do many of my friends and associates, that marriage is a very spiritual event in ones life as well as a legal proclamation of love for one another. Marriage is the union of two souls, destined to be one in the grand scheme that is their lifetimes. But, is there a reason you should commit to them for life? I find that in an unhappy marriage, you should always work things out, but is it such a bad thing if that comprimise turns out to be a divorce. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it is happiness that should win, not commitment. I prefer to be happy and alone that depressed and anchored to a person who I no longer love. I find divorce to be one of the best eye openers as well (to what you had, will have and will never have again.) As for same sex marriages, I believe all souls are destined to meet, love, then depart. Whether they are male, female, or transgendered, they can not deny love when it slaps them in the face or lightly brushes their cheeks. Love is not gender biased and nor should we be gender biased or against same sex couples. They will love with or without your approval. This alone should give them the right. Religious rules and regulations should not control that which feels natural and right to the persons concerned. Why should a gay couple hide or be ashamed? They have done nothing wrong. Everyone says "Follow your heart, it will guide you to your answers." but yet when they do there is an objection. Marriage is the union of to souls who have love for each other. That is it, period, finite. I will enjoy your responses, negative and positive or even maybe neutral. Blessed Be!!! |
