"I'm in for a long season" - Raiders Rants
There is a sign on the way out of the Raiders locker room as they head out to the practice field. Its says, "I'm in". The players all smack it and repeat the slogan each time they are headed out. However, this year like recent years, I think this slogan may be only part of what the true meaing may be. " I'm in for a long season", and it all started this past Monday night. 12 comments from 9 users

Don't feel too bad about the Raiders. They have a lot of company out here in the west with really bad football. The Seahawks and 49ers both are really terrible, and the Cardinals always find a way to lose. A lot of people think the Chargers still have talent, but they just lost their most intimidating defender and could not beat a mediocre Carolina Panther team at home. With only six teams in the Pacific and Rocky Mountain time zones only Denver might be a decent team, but they'll probably lose to the Chargers this weekend. You can't call it the National Football League anymore, it's the Eastern half-of-the-nation Football League. The NFL has obviously decided the western half of the country is not worth it. posted by

The Raiders won't be the worst team. There is still the Rams. Plus I think the Raiders will figure out before midseason that they aren't a playoff team and start to play the young guys and actually win a few they aren't supposed to. posted by

I actually didn't think they played all that bad. Certainly not 41-14 bad. The D stunk obviously, but Russell looked pretty good aside from the fumble. I think he had a 111 QB rating or something like that. If a few of those dropped passes had been reeled in and the D made a few crucial stops instead of taking penalties, things would have been different. Maybe I'm just a little optimistic when it comes to the Raiders. Geez, being a fan you have to, otherwise why bother watching. I do like watching Russell and McFadden. They will be great football players for years to come.
I know all the Raider fans out there weren't crying when Brady went down for the season (or longer). posted by

montfred, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell you are trying to say. Have they, or haven't they, had a decent coach since Gruden? posted by

As long as Al Davis owns the team, the Raiders will suck. And I couldn't be happier about it. You know what I really don't like about the Raiders? The fans. They are loud, obnoxious, and many of them look like criminals; hell, many of them probably are criminals. But I've got a solution to quell this problem--make the Raiders wear pink. I suspect that only TRUE Raiders fans--that is, those who love the team, not the image of thuggery--would still be around. Furthermore, football-related crime rates would drop by 80%. posted by

The Raiders sucking is cyclical. They were bad for part of the 80's, part of the 90's and the suck now. Give about two years and they'll be a playoff team in today's parity league. Al Davis does screw it up though. When he hired Art Shell he set the team back a couple of years. The things they were doing were so outdated (Ken Stabler 7 step drop backs, max protection packages, deep ball passing schemes). posted by

According to the Forbes latest list on the NFL, the Raiders and 49er franchises combined are not as valuable as the Dallas Cowboys franchise. That sucks! posted by

Did he just all of sudden become a controlling or bad owner after the Super Bowl loss? He's always been that way (Marcus Allen, Art Shell part I, Bo Jackson, Shanahan, the list is endless). He's been old for a loooooong time. They'll be bad and good in the NFL as long as the salary cap exists. I do believe he's making a mistake in trying to get rid of Kiffin. That is one of the few bright spots for the team right now.
