BPD: Drug cache found in Dr. Freesemann's home, motor home

The district attorney's office expects files to be charged Friday against Dr. Jeff Freesemann and his wife Shelly.

The couple, along with five other people, were arrested Sept. 17 after a nearly yearlong investigation by the police into the sale of Ecstasy, meth and cocaine at local nightclubs.

(Read "Doctor and wife to be charged Friday in drug case" on Bakersfield.com and in tomorrow's Californian.)

Documents related to the case are attached to this post.

The warrant filings show that an astounding amount of drugs were found at the Freesemanns' home and in their motor home.

Found at their Montmedy Court home were:

  1. One 5-by 6-inch piece of paper with the writing: "Sent 8/18/08 Fed-Ex, Doctor Wendel Smith, 3015 North 33rd Street, Tacoma, WA 98407." The back of the paper had a list of things to do, numbered one through seven.
  2. One black Pelican case
  3. Several sample packets of Viagra and Cialis
  4. One blue pill cutter
  5. One Ruger Red Hawk 44-caliber pistol, loaded with extra ammunition
  6. Five Remington brand 44-caliber live ammunition rounds

  19. One metal container
  20. Several empty pill bottles

The Freesemanns transported drugs out of Bakersfield in their motor home, according to the probable cause statement by Detective Mike Hale.

That is a very, very small amount of drugs found, that just doesn't match the headlines.  The most found was of course a dangerous drug (410) ecstasy pills, 0.8 grams of mushrooms is about one mushroom, 18 grams of coke is significant when you can buy it for 80 bucks a gram. 14 grams of meth is about an 8-ball that goes for close to 200 bucks, and 2.4 grams of marijuana might roll you up a couple or 3 hooters......this is no big bust young lady.....and I can't believe you spent alll your time typing the evidence sheet.  Actually a small bust for a big headline sorry to say, but that's the good ol Californian.

Culvermoon, your extensive knowledge of illicit street drugs and complete lack of understanding how serious these crimes are speak volumes for your character and credibility.

If you think that a healthcare provider (particularly a prominent one like Dr. Freeseman) isn't worthy of this "big headline," then I encourage you to keep smoking (fill in the drug) and I will only hope that the next serious medical procedure YOU have is by a whacked-out dealing surgeon. Vasectomy?

Well culver, aren't you just a walking pharmacopoeia.  Street wise and all.

culvermoon, I have sent many people to prison for possessing lesser amounts of illegal drugs than in this case. I would have thought you would know better from your Prop 36 classes.

I THINK THAT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS BLOW THIS ONE OUT TO BE SOMETHING THAT IT IS REALLY NOT...  FIRST OF ALL WHY WOULD THIS DOCTOR TRANSPORT DRUGS OUT OF BAKERSFIELD (FOR WHAT?????) THAT MAN MAKES MORE MONEY THAN EVERYONE AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT PUT TOGETHER... HE SOUNDS LIKE HES PRETTY BUSY DOCTOR TO BE TRANSPORTING DRUG HERE AND THERE.. ITS GOT TO BE THE WIFE DOING ALL THE DEALING IF ANYTHING.. I MEAN COME ON THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WORTH ANYTHING AT AT LEAST 2 OF THE HOMES SERVED WITH SEARCH WARRANTS... I THINK THE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEEDS SOME NEW DETECTIVES AND GET ON THE RIGHT PATH CAUSE THIS BUST WAS WEAK AND ALL FOR SOME PETTY ARRESTS.. THEY SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED AND SHOULD GET SUED BY THE OWNERS OF THE HOMES FOR THE EMBARRASSMENT...

MORE money stupid!! Some people, no matter what kind of money they make want more money! Why would you say "it must be the wife"? You only deal via women? They also happen to be "swingers" - not that doing that is a crime, just to indicate the "circles" they socialize with.

I don't think money has anything to do with it. It is the rush. Most doctors are drawn to the excitement and can often get a God complex. They feel they can do anything. Not all doctors mind you, but a very select few just feel untouchable. This is a violation of his medical oath.

It is ridiculous to think the police are mistaken by their arrest. They have cause. Let the judicial system do its job. Based on the items on this list, it will be pretty hard for him and the others to explain.

posted by WHYNE11 on Sep 26, 2008 at 12:30 PM

for more money, i think not..... i mean how much money do drug dealers really make?? not no where close to what a doctor that is high up in his field makes.. it just doesnt sound right to me

I find it amusing the combination of erectile function drugs and Ecstasy.  Oh wait, I forgot the Metamucil.  Definitely an interesting assortment of goodies.

Sounds a bit like a good party set up for swingers, lacking adult 'toys', videos, or printed materials.  (I refuse to use the term "pornography" as there exists NO firm legal definition of pornography other than definitions of obscenities.

posted by OldBlue56 on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:16 PM

whyne11, what do you mean that the police dept. has blown this out to be something more than it is? The police did ONE news release and press conference after all the arrests. ALL of the other attention has been generated by the local media, who always works itself into a frenzy when someone even semi-notable gets in trouble.

And you think it was all the wife's doing, and not the doctor himself? Why would you make such an asinine statement, when you don't know? Lets assume for a minute that there was a wiretap used in this case, and the doctor is recorded discussing the sales/purchase/transportation of drugs with the target, Stevie Galvan. Would that change your mind? Don't make stupid statements.

posted by solaera on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:27 PM

Swingers, huh? That would explain a few things. When I read this story I just didn't feel like the doctor and his wife were in possession of these drugs for monetary gain. All the small amounts of various drugs scattered casually about in their home and rented motor home tells me that this was a couple who just liked to get their drug on and par-tay...a lot. I'm not trying to make light of drug abuse or the seriousness of the charges, I'm just saying that I think the stuff was probably intended for personal use and perhaps to share with their "friends".  Jesus, their swinger friends probably thought they hit the sexy-times lottery when the good Doctor pulled up in what was essentially a rolling pharmacy replete with X, blow, shrooms, weed and Cialis. A little something for everyone!

WHAT I MEAN IS WHEN I THINK OF BIG DRUG BUST I THINK OF POUNDS OF THE STUFF OR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WERE FOUND NOT NO 14GRAMS OF METH AND 14GRAMS OF COKE AND SOME PILLS.. THAT'S NOT A BIG DRUG BUST TO ME... FOR THE RECORD I PERSONALLY KNOW 2 OF THE PEOPLE ARRESTED VERY WELL AND I KNOW FOR A FACT WHAT IS BEING BOD CASTED ABOUT THEM IS SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH..

208 suspected Ecstasy pills (pink), each stamped with a crown, weighing 76.7 grams

I knew a girl that got caught with ten of these pills for sale... the charge brought against her at the time was "attempted murder"... if you ask me *they* should be making alot *bigger deal* with this guy.... after all, he did take the hippocratic oath.

Here are some more unknown facts about the Freesemann's.  Yes it is true that they are swingers (AMEX records in the past will show that they took expensive trips almost every weekend to Las Vegas and other locales) and there is another doctor and wife in town that socializes with them and they could be swingers too.  That has yet to be proven.  Dr. Freesemann has "Napolean" syndrome.  When a friend of mine first started working in the office he was on the heavier side and so was his wife.  But when this friend went to work for Highgrove full time he was dropping lots of weight and his wife got implants.  He was ousted as President/CEO of the private practice that he was the co-founder of.  For a long time he was having Highgrove pay all of his expenses on his AMEX card, a car was furnished to him along with the other doctors.  The only bill he was really was responsible for was his mortgage and utilities.  But after he was ousted as President/CEO the purse strings were cut.  The drug closets, for each doctors samples from the drug reps, after awhile had to have locks put on them because all of the erectile disfunction medications were coming up missing and those samples are supposed to be for patients.  But the drugs continued to go missing.  When they were making the plans for the new building they moved into in 2005, Dr. Freesemann wanted a bigger office so he shaved off square footage of a vital department in the practice. That department now is so small that is almost unbearable to work in.

The state of California is most likely going to take away his license to practice medicine in the state of California.  The DEA which issues the DEA numbers which each MD, NP, PA-C must have to write prescriptions, especially CII-CV drugs will most likely, because of the nature of the case, revoke his license to write prescriptions in the United States.  That might not happen until the case goes to court or they take a plea.

As far as the erectile functions pills coming up missing, that happens in almost every Dr. office(i know they found plenty in his residences though).  The two GP's  I worked for had the same problems as well except it was the employees taking them.

WHYNE11(whiney1)-Never once did I say that I knew everything, didn't think OB wrote that either.  I only copy and pasted 1 of your sentences because it made no sense and you didn't come back to explain. I then asked if you were mad because your connects are out of service, you never answered until now with some BS. this is typical of friends of the criminals.

I haven't judged these people although the Dr and the wife have a lot of evidence against them.  So, feel free to spit in my face if you could and at the same time you''d have a hard time getting a size 8 out of your a**!!

Whine, I won't judge the doctor and his wife based on what is printed in the media. I'll judge them based on the criminal evidence gathered against them. Do you know some of the facts of the case against them that hasn't been released to the public yet? I do.

And only 6th graders spit in other kids faces. Grown adults don't do that.

I would be happy to 'debate'.  However, YoungBlue, as evidenced by your lack of coherent and logical discourse, I find it impossible to engage in such an exchange with  you.

Now, once you learn to compose a sentence (I don't care if you can or can't spell, just have the sentence make sense) without the vileness of a troll, you might engage more individuals on this blog.  Good luck!!

This place is crawling with trolls. Don't you all get tired of talking to yourselves? Oh, guess not, you just move onto other blogs under different names. Have to keep it interesting, I guess.

Vanity - it is highly entertaining to a degree.  But one thing remains common amongst the trolls - they really make themselves appear stupid.

Who else honks when they go through tunnels to keep the trolls away?  Do you think that would work on blogs? =)

I believe a troll has created a sock puppet. If you visit the sock puppet's profile, he has one friend, the troll.

Honk! Honk! (couldn't resist)

I only honk through tunnels to make my kids laugh. You have to honk one time for each passenger in the car, a fun way to learn numbers. Under this method, though, the highest count we've had at one time is six but now we can count the dog, I suppose.

These people are innocent UNTIL proven guilty--BY LAW...having said that..IF convicted..the good Doctor could lead a state of the art medical reform within California's penal system...but it will take 'bucks'..and right now..bucks are hard to find for convicts...you know, every day when I take the Mrs. for her radiation treatments--there is always some convict with two guards in there for treatment..so I guess they do have money for a convict--on OUR tax dollar....wonder what his co-pay is...two cartons of smokes....

Ling-every day when I take the Mrs. for her radiation treatments--there is always some convict with two guards in there for treatment..so I guess they do have money for a convict--on OUR tax dollar....

And the care they receive is probably better than yours or mine.  Pretty sad, huh? My husband needs to see a dentist really bad and we're having to hold off until his insurance kicks in, the end of OCT.  Maybe I should have him get in trouble, then we won't worry about co-pays and crap.  Heck, I wouldn't mind if you all called him guilty before he went to court.

On a side note: hope your wife is doing o.k.

Throat cancer...mid treatment-3 weeks..she devolped an infection-(thrush) in her throat...fought that off and started another 3 weeks of treatment yesterday---she lost 35 pounds and I can pick her up with one arm--I feed her 3 times a day thru her feeding tube in her stomach and bath her....and thats just the start of it...but it gives you the general idea...so, where's our bail out??
