People These Days
I don’t understand why people don’t respect others belongings... Last night I received a rude wake up call, I came home to my house at 10:30 at night and saw that the plastic cover to my doggie door to my back door had been kicked in... then I saw the finger prints on the windows of what was clearly someone trying to slide my window to get into my house. Luckily nothing was stolen, I don’t even believe they were able to get in my house. That comes to the point, I have no a great respect for the things I have (even more then I did before), and I do not understand why people would rather steal then work to have nice things.. I know that there are thieves, liars, cheats ect in this world, but like the old saying goes, i never thought it could happen to me. Then it did, thankfully nothing was taken, but I still made a police report. Why cant people just work for what they want instead of stealing others hard earned items? I know that it could have been worse, but it has been on my mind all day.

Our society has no respect for human life, kids aren't taught manners or consideration for others, nor are they taught morals. The "F" word has become part of everyday language for just about anybody under 40. The movies and TV shows that we watch and the music we listen to, glorifies gang-banging, stealing, drug-use, rape, and murder. Our society has become one which values "stuff" more than they value hard-work, discipline, or respect and caring for our fellow man. And you ask why people don't respect other peoples' belongings? If you truly want an answer to your question, just look around you. posted by

Tiffani, you did the right thing calling the police regarding the attempted burglary of your home. Most burglars have drug abuse problems, but some are also teenagers and young gang members. With the new technology in use today, maybe the fingerprints will help the overworked detectives catch those responsible. The days of leaving ANYTHING unlocked or unprotected is history.... posted by

OB- thank goodness i have window sticks in every window, I thought that i was being a little over protected but what just happened has proved that for once I wasnt being over protective.. It doesnt help that i live in the not so good part of Rosamond... where a little of everything you mentioned is... nor does it help that there are two nice cars in our drive way... posted by

Tiffani, the stick in the window track only slows the burglars down. They can still break the window or pry it out of the track. In my opinion, the best defense against burglars is a loud, audible burglar alarm. The police, or in your case, the KCSO, probably won't get there quickly, but most burglars won't rummage through your home with the alarm sounding. And if you can get your neighbors to keep an eye out, even better. And a good, VERY heavy safe doesn't hurt either. Not a wimpy 200 lb. one, which any good heroin addict or crankster can carry away by themselves and toss into the back of their stolen Saturn. posted by

I have a very loud dog indoors who would love to tear someone's toes off..and a large Lab outdoors who is very vocal and protective at the same time. If they get past those, I have a couple of other surprises for them.

If you don't have a good dog do as OB says and get a burglar alarm system. They are inexpensive and well worth it. posted by

Tiff: I'll let you borrow this guy --
He works cheap (6 pack of Bud/&Bag of Pork Rinds/day) and you'll have someone to commisserate with (he'll make vastly more sense than the Obamites on here) posted by
