TomW - > All Politics Are Local -> Not Yet Drinking Liberally
Not Yet Drinking Liberally

Hey Folks,

We're on for tomorrow (Thursday 7/3/08) night at Pizzaville on Oak Street.  I'll be there at 7:30.  We won't be an official chapter until I file some stuff, but this is a good "dry" run.  If you haven't seen me, here I am working.

So, who is coming out to help the pre-lauch of our very own chapter of Drinking Liberally?

I'm thinking we'll have the first official one in August to give us a chance to ramp up the numbers a bit.

Tom - unfortunately I'll be on my way to San Francisco.  I wish I could make it!

Hi Tom, what's this about? Is there a link on TBC you can post refering to what is going on?

Bakonative, I'm putting together a local chapter of Drinking Liberally.  Here's the original post: http://people.bakersfield.c...

FSG, we need to get together some time soon anyway.  When you get back, shoot me an email.

Kinda bad timing isn't it, what with this being a holiday weekend and all. Although I suppose with the high gas prices, not as many will be traveling out of town for the weekend.

You got it, Tom.

Shwaine - I hope you're right.. last thing I want is a ton of traffic today.

TOM:  uummmm I think you need to change the date......"4/3/08" ???? LOL  I've heard of living in the past but this is silly!!!

I will try to be there - not sure what Mr. WP has planned!

Count my wife and I as liberal drinkers for this evening at Pizzaville. I'm looking forward to drinking a lot of pizza in a cup. What a concept Mr. Martin!

Make sure you bring a designated driver.  Would hate to see some of you on the daily "Rap Sheet".

I'll try to make it as well.

Looks like I may be playing chauffeur to a family member tonight, so my attendance is iffy.

Excellent.  See you all there.

Witter, thanks for the heads up re: the date.

Audrey, you don't have to be that liberal.  I think a good litmus test is if you don't mind being called a liberal or call yourself one, you're "in the club" as they say.

Had a lot fun last night with a small group of six.  Thanks, Tom, for setting the "event" up. It was good to sit and be engaged by the group in attendance. Hope some more folks make the next one.

I'm all over it, Adam.  Good to see you last night.

Maybe it being a holiday eve people had made other plans.    Also being called Drinking Liberally probably kept the conservatives away.  But then, that was probably the point.  ;-)

Glad you folks had a good time though.  Nothing like pizza and beer to make a fun evening.

Nancy, that is sort of the point.  :)  I'll put together a non-ideological blogger meetup for later this month once my schedule clears. I'm actually glad we had a small group.

Tom, sounds like you guys had fun!  How could you go wrong with Pizzaville pizza?  I wish I could have made it but we got in from San Diego late yesterday, and then there was dinner to make, laundry to wash, bottles to run through the dishwasher, etc.  I hope to make it next time, though--just to meet you guys!  Keep us informed when the next one is.

Side note:  Is there such a thing as "drinking and fence-sitting?"  Either literally or metaphorically--both sound fun!

Sounds like a plan to me.  I think the Pizza thingis a great idea as Dagneys is a bit small for our get togethers and we've passed the boiling point where parks and barbeques are concerned.  Sitting in a darkish cool Pizza Parlor on a hot day really appeals to me.  I'll pass on the beer but Coke works just as well for my taste.

I waz razzin ya about the Liberal thing.  It really is good to have specialty type get togethers at times.  I knew better than to show up as I'd be the odd man out as it were.
