I'd like to give a bit of ramp up here, but the article speaks for itself: 9 comments from 4 users

I'd like to see the talking hating heads on radio and FOX spin their way out of this one. For America's sake, I hope they try. . "We're fighting a war on terror! We're going to bring the perpetrators of 9/11 to justice! Support the Patriot Act and sacrifice your privacy for security!!! Money is no object -- even if it's the better part of a trillion dollars! We're going to get them!!!" . Remember that refrain? My bet is that Pakistan gets the free pass. . (And just think: it's election season. What sweet timing. I thought only Clinton was capable of political blunders that catastrophic.) posted by

Hey Hardliner, they moved the story on me, but the link above is fixed. Pakistan as issued a new statement as well. The new stance is that they have not created a safe haven. Instead, they offer this: So they've agreed not to go in to Waziristan. They'll give the Taliban their weapons back, but if they find someone operating as a terrorist in the area that they will not enter, they "will see what is to be done." posted by

"As long as one is being like a peaceful citizen"? (Tom, please fix your ABC link. It does not work, and I wanted to verify the statement before commenting on it.) . If I read this at face value, let's think about it for a moment. posted by

I think I'm figuring this out. . If, on Sept. 11, the media replay Bush's vows to capture those responsible for 9/11, the media will be accused of "liberal bias" and "Bush-bashing."

The Pakistani regime of Gen. Pervez Musharraf has been negotiating truces - with the Bush administration's encouragement - with Islamic separatists in North Waziristan and South Waziristan, mountainous tribal areas along the Afghan border where U.S. officials think bin Laden may be hiding. Anyone want to try to make sense of this?
