What Mainstream Magazine Publishers Don't Want You to Know About Door to Door Sales.

I found this article about the door to door magazine scams.  I didn't even know that people still sold magazines door to door.  I do know other things such as perfumes and cheap merchandise are still marketed by kids who are taken in by the story of fast, easy money.

Well,  not all of the magazine scammers want your money, some want your soul....

You actually agreed with me.  The end must be near.

Here at home I occassionally get children without adults knocking at the door, selling candy door-to-door for church or public school fund raising. That is about as stupid as it gets and should not be allowed. It's been awhile since I read TBC's want ads, but promises of a "fun job" or making unrealistic commissions for selling worthless junk should be discouraged.

Your link tells about Texas, which is much different than California. What do Calif. labor laws say about kids selling door to door?

I don't know, legit school fund raising is an entirely another animal.  If anyone knows anything about that business it would be good to share either here or a blog devoted entirely to the school fund raising business.  Maybe the Californian would want to do a special feature on it.

When the fund raisers (schools) buy candy from companies set up for that, the return is very small.  They'd be better off to go to Costco and buy snacks to sell at a reasonable price.  Kids selling 20 dollar wrapping paper aren't going to get very far.

Magazine sales have long been a farce.  Hopefully no one is buying their stories these days.  I said "hopefully", but there are still those gullible enough to go for it.

I agree with you more than you may think Wayfarer. That's because I think you are a well meaning person who is trying to enlighten himself and passing off his findings to others. Nothing wrong with that. And some have been a little overly condemning of you, but that is because in a blog, a debate is much more accepted than a sermon.

I may disagree with your beliefs, but I don't question your sincerity. Nobody is going to agree with another person 100%. Except my wife.......I always agree with her. It's for my own good dontcha know.  LOL
