Oh, Really? O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly is one more gift who keeps on giving for progressives in this country. Phil Gramm has nothing  on O'Reilly.  The latest gaffe  from Mr. Misogynist himself is his "defense" of John McCain's tortured response to the question regarding insurance coverage for Viagra, but not for birth control. Check out this clip. Does Bill have to "buy you dinner before you use your  birth control?"

This is the comment from the guy who was sued by a coworker for sexual harrassment just a couple of years ago.  You cannot make this stuff up.

Is stupid a covered medical malady? Cuz if it is, Bill needs about 6 prescriptions filled.

Would someone write a nutshell summary about what the video says for the "deef" out here?

In a few words, the O'Reilly rant is in response to a commercial Planned Parenthood aired showing the video footage of  John McCain's tortured response to a question regarding Viagra as a covered prescription for all health insurers while birth control is not currently a covered prescription by many health insurers. McCain could not answer the question. Bill answers it for him. Bill opines that Viagra is medicine for a medical condition and should be covered while birth control is a choice women choose to make and should not be covered by taxpayers. He closes his commentary with the quote I supplied on the initial post. I'm sure you can probably google this snippet and find a transcript . Hope this suffices.

Thank you Adam. That was a sufficient explanation of a case where stupidity competes with nonsense.

In other words, the classic head-in-the-sand response neocons have to the Viagra vs birth control question. Of course, it totally ignores the fact birth control is also used to treat medical issues for women, but then they might actually have to admit that birth control is a medicine.

True dat. Many women take depo provera for heavy bleeding.

His rant actually makes some sense. In general, ED is a medical problem and not wanting to get pregnant isn't. of course, you only need viagra if you want to have sex. You don't HAVE to have sex (despite what some people think). However, as stated by others, many women need to take birth control for medical reasons OUTSIDE of birth control. It should be covered by health insurance. Viagra should not.

Out of all the insurance plans I have had, birth control has always been insured.
