Time Out, Toddlers!

Okay, you got me. I am at a loss over how to respond anymore to people who seem to hate everything our recently elected government tries to do.

You had your team at bat for for six years all by its lonesome this decade, and had the executive branch for another two on top of that stretch. You had Congress for the last six years of the previous decade.

Do you think all this tumult of failing credit, corporate malfeasance,  job loss, war and pestilence happened the moment a Democrat was elected as President 10 months ago?

What did your team do for working people during all those years?

Your team covertly spied on the nation breaking the law in the process. Your team did away with all the oversight of banks and corporations. Your team went to war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Your team eliminated the most revered legal concept of the individual that dates back  700 years and defied all modern definitions of torture at secret and offshore prisons. Your team couldn't manage disaster relief if their lives depended on it.

Your team lost, and lost badly just 10 months ago. Your team lost because it could not do the job. Your anger at the team in control today is irrational, misguided and does you and your neighbors much harm with the fallout from your red noise.

Maybe you do not understand the concept of elective government. The people elect representatives to get important public works done to solve social problems. Blocking all efforts to fix problems hurts everyone. An election will be happening next fall. You will have your opportunity to bring back all those people who were rejected this last election over their abysmal governing skills and failure to do the job.

Yelling and screaming and name calling just because this is a new team is really like having to hear an uncontrollable toddler scream at the top of his/her lungs simply because the little darling did not get their way.

I can only conclude that a longer timeout from the process is what you are demanding from the rest of the electorate.

Your side ( Adam) promised we be out of Gitmo !!!!!!!!!! Did that happen

Your Side ( Adam) promised after spending 7 trillion dollars jobs would be rolling ( 9.4 unemployment)

Your Side (Adam) promised free Health Care !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ain't happening

Your Side ( Adam) promised the end to war ALL WARS

When you promise a chicken  in every pot What do you expect the masses to do but vote for someone

please Adam what in 10 months has your side done ?????????????

The only quantifiable thing your side has done has blamed everything on George Bush.....

9/11 George's fault .....Katrina George's  fault .....4.2 unemployment George's fault

the only thing that your side has in ten months is exposed ........10 months and you havent done anything positive ....

we dont need a time out .....we just have to endure 3 years 2 months of  a WASTE OF TIME ......

I think all you guys have left is to get out the dead puppies and starving kids .....that always works for you

Okay, you got me. I am at a loss over how to respond anymore to people who seem to hate everything our recently elected government tries to do.

Making outlandish accusations is probably not a good start. Calling them toddlers doesn't really add to the dialogue either.

You had your team at bat for for six years all by its lonesome this decade, and had the executive branch for another two on top of that stretch. You had Congress for the last six years of the previous decade.

I thought we were all on the same team. At least we know where you stand.

Do you think all this tumult of failing credit, corporate malfeasance,  job loss, war and pestilence happened the moment a Democrat was elected as President 10 months ago?

No it started with a democrat controlled Congress that wasn't doing its job and a RINO president who didn't do his.

What did your team do for working people during all those years?

Again, same team? Apparently the team (which is to say, everyone in government) let people buy houses at inexplicably high prices giving them loans they could never repay.

Your team covertly spied on the nation breaking the law in the process.

And kept us safe.

Your team did away with all the oversight of banks and corporations.

Actually "your team" did that. But all "sides" are culpable.

Your team went to war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

And it wasn't in the "name" of 9/11 either. Now you're just making stuff up.

Your team eliminated the most revered legal concept of the individual that dates back  700 years and defied all modern definitions of torture at secret and offshore prisons.

So, only Republicans did that? You really are naive.

Your team couldn't manage disaster relief if their lives depended on it.

Really? Again, only republicans were involved?

Your team lost, and lost badly just 10 months ago.

You can't really lose anything if you don't really try to win.

Your team lost because it could not do the job.

Or because people were looking for handouts. Same thing, right?

Your anger at the team in control today is irrational, misguided and does you and your neighbors much harm with the fallout from your red noise.

If you had even a slice of respect for differeing opinions, you would realize the sheer idiocy of your statement. I don't suspect you will, though.

Maybe you do not understand the concept of elective government.

Yeah, the mentally handicapped and the dead get to vote, too.

The people elect representatives to get important public works done to solve social problems.

That's what government is for? Wow.

Blocking all efforts to fix problems hurts everyone.

Not if the "fix" would have been worse than the problem.

An election will be happening next fall. You will have your opportunity to bring back all those people who were rejected this last election over their abysmal governing skills and failure to do the job.

NO, we want different people.

Yelling and screaming and name calling just because this is a new team is really like having to hear an uncontrollable toddler scream at the top of his/her lungs simply because the little darling did not get their way.

Welcome to the last 8 years, my man.

I can only conclude that a longer timeout from the process is what you are demanding from the rest of the electorate.

Only the sheep and the lemmings should stay home. The rest of us should continue to vote.

Lie to anyone they will vote for you .....

McCain lost, remember?

.

And lying won't get folks to vote for *YOU*, either.  But you keep lying.  Why is that?

Learnem, that's gibberish even by *YOUR* admittedly-low educational standards.

witbee Only the sheep and the lemmings should stay home. The rest of us should continue to vote.

Wow witbee that should be a bumper sticker..heheeheh

adam keeps saying 'you guys' and bush blah blah blah....like that is supposed to incompass the rest of the world outside his chosen circle of liberal wingnuts.....

well what about 'us guys' that suffered through bush jr right along with everyone else that didnt like or vote for him..now the same scenario rings true for another president that 'you guys' elected .. .

as I see it adam and his buddys only had to suffer through 8 years... where as me and people like me have not only lost that 8 ..but now we are being forced to endure even more damage to our personal lives..when do we get our chance to enjoy alittle sunshine??

My political views are based on whats right for me and my family...it might sound pretty conservative since labels appear to be an important aspect to exist around here...but trust me when I say my *REAL*motivation comes from just plain old simple dislike for whats sitting in *OUR* whitehouse at the moment...

Really? Obama is somehow damaging your personal life? Now that's a new one I haven't heard yet.

posted by casooner90 on Sep 4, 2009 at 12:44 PM

Toddlers?  Nice opening to start an adult conversation.

I've got one thing to say - Obama received 93% of black votes.  But, who's calling it racial?

OBAMA = Promoting personal irrisponsibility.

I pretty much agree with everything you wrote, Adam.  I would like to remind everyone, though, that not all conservatives or Republicans are big, fat babies.  They are not all sore-loser soccer hooligans.  They are not all bomb-shelter residing, paranoid wingnuts.  They are not all ignorant, toothless losers.

They are also not all inadvertently humorous, but some really are pretty funny, and for that reason I wouldn't want them to grow up too fast.  Some of the things they say are just too cute, and since we can never get these years back (until a Democrat wins the presidency again) I will probably just continue to go with the flow and find the humor in it.  ; )

Sheep and lemmings are not allowed to vote. Only American citizens of voting age. I'm sorry you don't think all Americans should vote, but that's one of the drawbacks of this whole democracy thing. Everybody gets to vote. There are quite a few dictatorships in the world that might welcome you... as long as you agree with them. Since this is not a dictatorship, if you choose to live here, you have to deal with people that disagree with you.

Am I the only one frightened that a teacher doesn't want every eligible American voting?

Am I the only one frightened that a teacher doesn't want every eligible American voting?

No, you are just the only one thick enough to take it that way. And still I defend your right to vote.

posted by ProgressivePete2 on Sep 4, 2009 at 02:13 PM

I'm sorry witbee, did I misunderstand what you meant? I thought you were suggesting that certain people stay home instead of vote. Maybe it was that you want everybody to have the right to vote, just as long as they don't exercise it.

posted by witbee on Sep 4, 2009 at 02:46 PM

Right. Uninformed people shouldn't vote. Just like blind people shouldn't navigate for you. Of course, the democrats are only in office now because they do. But everyone eligible should have the RIGHT to vote.

Apology accepted.

posted by pikebishop on Sep 4, 2009 at 02:52 PM

I guess I missed something. The Democrats are in office why? I'm not following you, guess I'm an uninformed voter

posted by witbee on Sep 4, 2009 at 02:55 PM

Or blind.

posted by pikebishop on Sep 4, 2009 at 02:58 PM

Sorry, still not following you kiddo. But hell, I just went along with the other 53% of the country and voted for the winner.

fixed? proof? really sioux, I expected more from you.

posted by ProgressivePete2 on Sep 4, 2009 at 04:05 PM

neither actually sioux. I was wondering how he damaged your personal life? Your the one that said it, and I'm not that good at mind reading over the internet. Care to elaborate?

posted by siouxcityranch on Sep 4, 2009 at 04:27 PM

OK PB where did he get all the money to run his campaign..millions of dollars of unaccounted for funds..lots of it from over seas contributers well veresed in money laundering..he had people hustling votes that were counted illegally ...yes some were caught but if they did it at all you know a goodly number got away with it...

many many of the people who voted for him had no idea what his policies were or cared..did they care he surrounded himself with questionable characters throughout his political life?? 'Nope' none of those things were even an issue to those people..they voted for him because he was half black..PERIOD...Im sure you recall during the campaign reporters went into harlem interviewing people that were told his running mate sara palin was a good choice for vp and they totally agreed..and saddled us with this man...

Ive never seen a more ridiculously transparent farce of an election in my whole life..save bush jr..but then what were our choices Al Gore??? No Thanks!!

first off i cant believe you would even think i would share my personal life or problems with you..we wont ever be that good of friends..

posted by ProgressivePete2 on Sep 4, 2009 at 04:37 PM

Well, actually I don't really want to know your personal problems, but you're the one saying he damaged you. Just wondering what you meant. Tell ya what, let's just drop it.

I would offer an opinion but I am in "time-out" on adampayne's blog until November of 2010. See you then : )

posted by drilnliftcrude on Sep 4, 2009 at 07:44 PM

This is too funny.  Somebody is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that it is a whole lot harder and a lot less fun to be constantly defending your side than it is to be attacking the other side.  With a little luck, and the Republicans don't blow it, the Dems will lose their majorities next year.  Then the Owe will steer to the right to try and get re-elected and then you libs can join  us and we'll tag team on the vicious attacks on The One.

posted by adampayne on Sep 4, 2009 at 09:27 PM

Uninformed people shouldn't vote. Nice of you, witbee, to disqualify yourself for 2010.

From all the personal attacks and hysteria from the conservatives on this site we are definitely not on the same team. The toddler faction screams for a birth certificate , which is the height of childishness, and when authentication is presented still screams nonsense.

Everyone above the age of a toddler knows our health care system is broken, unsustainable, and in need of serious reform but that doesn't stop the hysterical outbursts of "Death Panels", which is an unsupportable lie regarding living wills or revocable trusts with end of life instructions on how a person chooses to personally direct medical efforts on their behalf. A year ago this was a Republican theme to push through Congress, but when a Democrat and a Republican propose it under this Administration toddlers say no euthansia for the elderly.

No! No! No! That is all a toddler knows.

Toddlers have made it clear they are not team players. Team players are civil and actually utilize facts in a dispassionate method to clarify positions to support arguments. Toddlers have lots of opinions but never any facts, and like to use big words they don't know the definitions of when calling the other people names.

I've got one thing to say - Obama received 93% of black votes.  But, who's calling it racial? No one but you, Casooner. That would be all I would expect you to say here. You could also point out that more than 2 million more African-American voters voted this election than in 2004, and that 2 million more Latinos voted in the 2008 election than in 2004. Curiously the Caucasian vote as a percentage was down one percentage point as a share of the vote for 2008. What do you make of that?

Keep screaming, and all the adults will tune you out.

posted by NancyII on Sep 4, 2009 at 10:11 PM

I once ranted that EVERYONE should get off their duffs and vote and if they didn't, they didn't have the right to complain.  A person more on the ball than I was told me "no..don't ask for that, an uninformed voter can hurt everyone."  (paraphrased)

If a person is uninformed and doesn't take the time to understand the issues or the candidates, then they might as well throw a dart at the ballot.  Is that what you're advocating?
