Policeman told to got off his patrol bike because he hasn't passed his cycling proficiency test!

A delightfully wacky story from Britain's Daily Mail:

A village police community support worker who has been riding a bike since childhood has been ordered off the saddle by police bosses - who insist he take a cycling proficiency test.

Nick Barker had used his bicycle to patrol remote rural areas around Sevenoaks, Kent, before health and safety bureaucrats told him to take the test aimed at primary school children.

And he is now forced to travel between the tiny hamlets of Halstead, Knockholt and Badgers Mount on the bus - because of a shortage of police cars.
