Carolina Panthers coach John Fox on Friday named 43-year-old Vinny Testaverde the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against Indianapolis. Testaverde got the nod ahead of David Carr, who is recovering from a back injury.
Fox said he doesn't think Carr is 100 percent even though he's healthy enough to play.
So a healthy-enough-to-play No.1 draft pick isn't considered a better choice than a 43-year-old journeyman?
Mind you, Testaverde did win the Heisman ... in 1986!

News sites are using online maps like crazy to provide info on the Southern California wildfires. Here are some examples.

New York Times: An interactive map that lets users see how the fires grew over the course of several days.

Sign on San Diego: Very detailed map with videos, photos and markers for every structure that has burned.

North County Times:
Tons of data on this map, including places to take horses that have had to be evacuated.

Los Angeles Times: Another map showing, specifically, how the San Diego fires grew.
