What state is the project at Highway 178, Masterson and Kern Canyon Road in?
Location:
HIghway 178 and Masterson Street,
Bakersfield, CA
Q.: I noticed the question in Ask TBC (Aug. 27) regarding a gas station development at Highway 178/Comanche Drive. I believe (what) the reader may have been referring to is the larger planned development at 178/Masterson Street/Kern Canyon Road (across from the current Chevron station) — as part of the City in the Hills development. There have been reports of a grocery store, movie theater, restaurants, etc., in that area, but the details/timeline have been a little sketchy. From the city perspective, has there been anything done or submitted from the developer to start this project in the near future? — Michael Edgerle
A.: A retail/lifestyle center on 100 acres at that location is in the preliminary planning stages, said Mimi Mok, president of City in the Hills developer S.K.Y Management LLC. There are no concrete plans for particular businesses, such as a movie theater and grocery store, but Mok said the center would have an elegant setting with restaurants and green space. The development is a couple of years away, she said. The developer hasn’t started talks with the city and Mok said she didn’t know when that will happen. S.K.Y. is still planning with architects Field Paoli, the firm that designed the Victoria Gardens shopping center in Rancho Cucamonga. 0 comments from 0 users
