Q: We have been told by some Tehachapi residents that the government is housing and supporting families of prisoners in the Tehachapi Correctional Facility to give these families easier access for visitation to their loved ones. Is this true and why?

A: What Tehachapi residents are saying about the prison is not true, said Lt. Michael Coghlan with the California Correctional Institution.
Coghlan, who has worked at the institution for 26 years, said he has never heard of the government providing housing in the facility for prisoners’ families.
