Plans for a stop light at Highway 178 and Kern Canyon Road?

Q: Are there any plans to put a stop light or other traffic signal at the corner of Highway 178 and Kern Canyon Road? There’s a lot of traffic there and I think it’s dangerous.

A: No traffic signal is planned for that northeast Bakersfield intersection.
The city of Bakersfield and the Thomas Road Improvement Program team will be working to widen that section of Highway 178 over the next few years.
Members of the TRIP staff said the intersection of Highway 178 and Highway 184 — Kern Canyon Road — will be redesigned as part of that effort.
But they have not decided, they said, exactly how the intersection will be redesigned.
