Progress of Shops at River Walk

Q: What is the status of Castle & Cooke’s commercial development the Crossings at River Walk?
The intended enterprise seems very behind in its intended timeline. Cause?
If all the commercial space has not been predetermined/leased, a breakfast place there would be wonderful. Since C&C promotes “walking neighborhoods,” pedestrian patronage of a restaurant for breakfast would be ideal.
— Mary Webb

Castle & Cooke’s planned southwest shopping center, once called the Crossings at River Walk, is now dubbed the Shops at River Walk.
The proposed upscale retail project first got the go-ahead from the city in 2001, according to previous Californian stories.
The project snagged restaurant tenants California Pizza Kitchen, Elephant Bar, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in recent years.
When more shops and restaurants will appear is unclear.
Castle & Cooke does not have any updates on the shopping center, spokeswoman Renee Massey wrote in an e-mail.
In 2006, a company representative said some shops would be constructed in 2007, with the next wave opening in the first half of 2008.
