What's being built on Panorama between Fairfax and Morning?
Q: There are flagmen stopping traffic for earth-moving-type vehicles on Panorama about halfway between Fairfax and Morning Drive. Can you tell me what is being constructed between the power towers?
— Laura Gardner
Teichert Construction has a permit which allows its heavy equipment to cross Panorama Drive between Fairfax Road and Morning Drive.
The company is in the process of balancing earthwork on both sides of the road in preparation for putting in a new housing development, according to Bakersfield Construction Superintendent Stuart Patteson.
Due to the hilliness of the area, Teichert needs access to both sides of the road in order to properly balance earthwork for housing pads and roads.
Part of the permit required the company to put down heavy metal plates so its equipment wouldn’t damage the road.
Patteson said Teichert’s work to widen Panorama in order to add one or two extra lanes of traffic would likely start within the calendar year.
