Who are those white Express Transit buses for?

Q: I’ve been seeing more and more white Express Transit buses in Bakersfield.  Is Express Transit a Bakersfield company? Who are they transporting and where?
— David Dooley
A: Express Transit Inc. is a company formed in Bakersfield in 2007, said the company’s office and human resources supervisor, Anita Aldaco. It receives state money to transport Kern County adults with developmental disabilities from their home to programs run by organizations including BARC (Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens) and NAPD (New Advances For People With Disabilities). Aldaco said the service serves 27 routes countywide, and that it has not been expanded recently.

The company needs to watch their drivers. I've nearly been hit by three of the busses in the last three months.
