What's going on at the corner of Panama and Gosford?

Q: What’s being built or fixed at the southwest corner of Panama Lane & Gosford? There is lots of activity going on there with road construction vehicles and earth movers. Thanks.
— Andrea Sanchez

A: The Stine Canal is being moved underground to accommodate future commercial development near the intersection, according to the city of Bakersfield’s Planning Department.

Panama and Gosford Retail LLC, owns the land and plans to build 580,940 square feet of retail space, said Darcey Oldhafer of Intertex Cos.

Intertex, based in Valencia, manages the limited liability corporation.
