Elton John has come and gone, but in my house you would never believe it...

Being 19, Elton John has had to fight his way into my heart among competitors such as Daughtry, Kanye West, and Justin Timberlake. Lucky for me, my parents, born in the 50's and now owning all of his CDs and records, are true Elton John fans. Elton has made his way into my world, beginning when i was a young girl. The neighbor next door was a cruel woman and my mom would open the kitchen windows and blast "The Bitch is Back." In 5th grade, my teacher had us do an assignment that involved building and firing off rockets on the playground and I took it upon myself to play "Rocket Man" during all the fiasco of the assignment. When I had the house to myself as a teenager, I raided my mother's closet, put on some "electric boots", and danced to "Benny and the Jets" in front of the mirror. Last night, I enjoyed Elton John at home from the mini video's my mother had sent me via cell phone. The parents had a blast, just as they did the last time Elton came to town.

I'm not sad that I wasnt there in person. Today, right now actually, with Elton John blasting in the background, my parents are cleaning house, singing, dancing, and raving about last night and it's a show all in itself. They aren't the greatest singers and can't dance if their life depended on it. I just hope to the heavens that the cute boy next door doesn't come a knockin'...

I will "Levon" with this last note..."thanks mom and dad for showing me the brilliance of one man and his talent, and thanks Elton for showing my parents how to act young again!"
