CAUL the doctor, i'm about to BLOOM up!

i just ate an entire head of cauliflower.

like a put the whole head in a pot of water on the stove.

on high and twenty minutes later it was super soft and piping hot.

then i mashed it until it's texture matched that of mashed potatoes.

[[no, i've never done this before]]

well, lets just say i went crazy and ate the whole thing.

seriouslyyyy.

im going to explode.

that, or turn into a cauliflower myself.

[[oh my god]]
seriously, i haven't felt like this since i went to sizzler at the age of ten.

talk about a BAA-AAD idea...

And you didn't invite me, I'd a helped you with it before you smashed it, Now I'll have to go buy one, you made me hungry for cauliflower.

My mother use to cook a lot of things like that and my Ex Wife loved to eat em to.

My present wife thinks anything green is nasty. She only likes pork chops steak and chocolate.

I myself, can make a meal from the garden alone.  Love squash, Okra, we've even taken green tomato's cut and fried em like squash, the same with egg plant. Can make a meal out of fried okra alone.

With meat prices hitting $10.00's a pound, my garden looks better every day.

When I hauled cattle to Texas and back, I loved the money I made, it really pays good.  Some how it doesn't look so good to me when I see the prices in the store.

Enjoy that Cauliflower girl.  ;=))) LOL

yea. i didn't mash it all the way--> i only like to act like a baby, not eat like one...  :D but i left big florets and i just went crazyyyy.

we have an iguana and i often catch my dad feeding it MY foods- broccoli, cauliflower, celery, carrots, apples.....it's not pleasant shariing with a lizard....

A few years back in the glory days of the Atkins Diet my wife and I used cauliflower as a substitute for potatoes and did the mashed variety all the time. Actually, quite tasty, and gets me thinking of pulling out the old recipe book.

As a vegetarian of years experience I suggest you get one of the good books on the subject bako. A very tasty diet if you know some of the guidelines even if it means sharing with the lizard.

thanks for the tip sam. as a semi vegetarian (only chicken/turkey and fish/shell fish) i do eat A LOT of veggies. I shock myself on days like today; i used to be the chubby kid who ordered a bacon cheeseburger at any and all restaurants and stuck my tongue out at even the thought of a salad. as far as cook books go and recipes, i live for coming up with my own concoctions!!!

I love deep fried cauliflower, myself.

wafarer- when you eat deep fried cauliflower, do you consider it to be part of your daily five veggies?

The mashed is great.... but you do need salt, pepper and butter in my opinion... the wife likes it with sour cream and chives.

Sounds real good... I will have to get some... it's been a while.

See what you did Bakoborn?  Now you've gone and made everyone hungry. LOL ;=)))

Yes and I also consider carrot cake a serving of veggies.

murphy- i'm gladdd. if i can sway some to purchase a cauliflower, rather than a burger and fries, then my deed for the day is done.

wayfarer- i'm with ya on the carrot cake. oh mannn. it's the cream cheese frosting that has my heart! i haven't eaten in since before my eating disorder started and as of now, it's a fear food for me; as are many other foods (smith's cookies, m&m mcflurry, and confetti frosting/cake are just a few) hopefully i gather up the courage to face my fear foods and take a bite soon...  :/

oh and wayfarer- here's a few more veggies for you: ketchup, corn bread, onion rings, zucchini strips, how about a bloody mary and, dare i say it, mUsHrOoMs....don't forget your fruits: apple pie, strawberry shortcake, chocolate covered raisins, orange chickenbanana split...i could go on and on.....

MY BIRTHDAY IS ON MONDAY, HERE'S WHAT I HAVE IN MIND....

Well, my teen gets inspired to try something different in the kitchen. Once started a grease fire in the kitchen. She's still a mad scientist in an apron, but she sticks to cold dishes.

Some times I experiment in the kitchen just to see what I can come up with. ;=)))  I have a beef stew I make that I take out of a cook book and ad a few items of my own and everyone loves it, even my mother in law, she's stated that it's better than any she's ever made.  A while back, I took some chicken out of the deep freeze and let it thaw a few days in the refrigerator, the way I cook my chicken breast is to ad spice and wrap in foil to hold the juice and cook at 400 for 1 hr 15 min's, when you take em out, you have clear broth still in the foil. Fold the foil to the top so no broth gets out.

When I cook beef stew, I use beef broth and all this broth from the chicken gave me an idea.  Why couldn't I take the chicken breast about 12 large ones, tear it in small pieces from the breast making sure there are no bones and rather than using can broth, tilt the foil and open the end just a crack to allow the broth out in a bowl, use the broth in the foil, ad the chopped up items before adding to the meat.

Ad diced potato's, I put carrots and about four onions in one of those machines that totally chops up the food in really small pieces for those that doesn't like onions of which they don't even know they're there, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce,, salt pepper, Bay leaves,ad water until it's over the meat so the meat doesn't burn, in a dutch oven and cook for another hour and a half at 375.

It's really good, kind of like the one my mother use to make, maybe I learned it from her and don't even know it. ;=)))
