Superman or lucky man? How has Bush managed to keep America safe after 9/11?
The threat of another terrorist attack on American soil continues to loom on the horizon. Somehow, heretofore (knock on wood) Bush has managed to keep the terrorists at bay in terms of striking on American soil post 9/11. What is Bush's secret? Is it his fool-proof strategery? Does it have anything to do to his policies? Does he possess super powers as the Great Protector? Or is he, and are we, simply lucky?
In the game of blog n roll, I don't ultimately decide. You put an imaginary quarter in the blog n roll jukebox, play the song... Red, White and Blue Dr BLT words and music by Dr BLT copyright 2007 http://www.drblt.net/music/... ...while formulating a response, and then post a comment. His "fool-proof" strategy appears to be: give Bin Laden everything he wants. . How well did it work? One word: anthrax. *ANOTHER* terrorist Bush failed to catch. posted by

Gee, and we've managed to make his "subjects" long for Saddam. I didn't think that was even possible. And we've swapped about one US soldier's life and *ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS* for every one of those "terrorists," while breeding three times as many to replace them. Advantage: bin Laden. Again. posted by

Gee, Chico, I guess you can't refute my stated facts: one life and $100,000,000 spent *PER TERRORIST*, with the net result: We now have 10,000 more terrorists. . Oh, and bin Laden *AND* the guy who pulled the anthrax attacks are both laughing at you and Bush. . Say hi for me, will ya? posted by

You can bet George Bush is shopping around for a cost-effective one as we speak, BLT. Blackwater would do it on a cost-plus contract, I'm sure. posted by

Are we talking immediate costs, or costs from the protracted and bungled military actions taken afterwards that have nothing to do with the initial attack? I guess we would have to base the costs on whether the attack happened during a Republican or Democratic presidency, wouldn't we? . What Random, you were expecting Chico to respond to a factual argument with counter-evidence, facts, or logic? Why do that when there are personal attacks to be made? Just be glad you aren't a 12-year old boy, or else he'd be posting your home address up here..... posted by

Welcome to my blog post, chico. Your words are consistently wise. You others are welcome too. You too, are exceedingly wise, just a little misguided, that's all. Hell, even the most intelligent among us are capable of being deceived and of succumbing to left-wing propaganda that would redefine our great, noble, wise, Godly President---taking a flawed hero, and turning him into Hitler Lite. Of course you left-wingers will say that he turned himself in Hitler Lite, but that's because you've succumbed to left-wing propaganda. Isn't it ironic how he's trying to protect Israel, and he's compared to Hitler who was trying to wipe out the very population Bush most intently seeks to protect and preserve. posted by

After all, Hitler was a good public speaker. And he was able to impose greater order on countries he invaded. And he actually improved his country's infrastructure while in power. posted by

Secular "progressivism" under the guise of "intellectualism" will make this unique experiment in a Democratic Republic (called America) go the way of the Roman Empire. I am not a particularly religious man. But I do believe in God. One of my best friends in this entire world (knew him in VN and he stayed in to become "lifer" in some very elite SF units and now is a security expert in Wash DC to big wigs) is an atheist. We didn't have "foxholes" per se (we filled a lotta sandbags and dug some quick trenches) but the "no atheists in foxholes" is BS as this guy would be what he is (an atheist against org religions) until the bayonette is shoved through his neck. So its not that you have to believe in a particular god (or even "the" God). It is symbolic only IMO (now I've pi$$ed off the other end of the spectrum. God and country to this dude (my sf buddy) meant something different than to me I'm sure. To him and with his ancestry (similar to mine) the land and its animals (Wapiti, etc.) are God. So in his case it may be redundant but still operative (God & Country). I notice a huge push of late Blognroll, to get God out of everything in this country. And yet OTOH we are bending over backwards to certain other religions (Muslims for example) to be sure we recognize their right to religion and all its acutrements. I may be just an old oakie redneck injun right wing crusty vet but something doesn't seem right about all this to me. posted by

It was those damn atheists! They stopped praying to their pantheon of gods, and the gods punished their nation!

Why did the Roman Empire die? 1. They tried to keep out illegal immigrants. 2. They gave too much credence to religion (specifically Christianity). 3. They didn't pay enough attention to their environmental pollution. 4. They launched a war on terrorism. posted by

mattloch, if you took a course in re-writing history, you'd pass with flying colors. You and your ilk have managed to take a sagacious, gracious, bold (if fallible) President that held us together through one of most traumatic events of our history and turned him into Hitler Lite. The sad part is many conservatives have passively adopted your revisionistic propaganda. posted by

My dad taught history for many years, but he wasn't one to take his work home with him. So don't look to me as a history buff. However, woefully inept on the subject though I may be, I recognize re-writing history when I see it. And you, my friend (and I do mean friend), are the master of re-writing history.
