Lyric today/Hear it Tomorrow: One hand on my Bible/The Other, on my Gun (Bitter)

It looks like Obama has inspired another country song.

One Hand on my Bible/The Other on my Gun (Bitter)

words and music by Dr BLT copyright 2008

I got on hand on my Bible

the other on my gun

'bin told that I am bitter

but there's no need to run

I may throw my big Bible

but the gun is just for fun

I've got one hand on my Bible

the other on my gun

I got one foot on a grave stone

and one foot on the ground

I'm rooted in the music

of the Bakersfield Sound

when you step upon this soil

well, at best, you'll soon be shunned

got one hand on my Bible

the other on my gun

I'm gonna get you

one way or another

trigger happy with this Bible

I learned it from my mother

so don't you spout your mouth off

no move along, my son

I've got one hand on my Bible

the other, on my gun

I'm bitter

as the blues

bitter as the sole beneath

my beat-up cowboy boots

you know that where I come from

all we see's a frozen sun

got one hand on my Bible

the other on my gun

I was raised exposed to such heroic figures as Danial Boone, David Crockett, and Stephan Austin.  That was before they started teaching revisionist history in school which condemned me to being evil merely because my ancestors were white and Christian.  As I remember from my earlier influences that Americans when faced by over whelming odds always pragmatically said "praise the Lord and pass the ammunition." and then did heroically what had to be done.  This attitude worked for us at Bunker Hill, the Battle of New Orleans, the Alamo, Normandy, Pearl Harbor, and the Tet Offensive.  BLT don't you remember the old country songs about the Battle of New Orleans and the Hunt for the Bismark?

I do recall tunes of that variety, wayfayer.  Have you heard my tune, Average White Guy, or visited this blog?

Yea I just checked that out.  I am learning as I grow older to be proud of who we are and thankful for are roots.  I think the Biblical commandment to honor are mothers and fathers has something to do with this.  We can never forget where we came from and honor are roots.  Especially the loving sacrifice our parents make for us.  After all a spoiled brat is not the easiest person to get along with.

 I wholeheartedly agree, Wayfarer.
