Is that picture of Dwight Yoakum supposed to be a clue? I can't tell if he's wearing ripped jeans in that photo...

Here's a clue for johnburnssucks: The Dwight Yoakum photo is designed as a diversion, to throw you off and get you sidetracked.  It looks like it worked.  And WS is clearly up on his trivia, but allowed to offer a second answer as the "official" one.  I would suggest holding on to the first "unofficial" answer however, because the answer you almost gave away would make a great answer for a future BAKERSFIELD SOUND Trivia Quest Question.

I beleive the answer is E. Tom Petty and Mudcrutch,  and if this is the wrong answer, to have Tom Petty record in Bakersfield was a nice fantasy for me anyway....
