I'm Back! I took the Streets of Bakersfield to the highways of mid-western Canada

It's good to be back on The Streets of Bakersfield Homer, Buck and Dwight made famous, but I sure had a great time travelling down the highways of mid-western Canada talking to Canadians and tourists from all around the world about the Bakersfield Sound.

This picture was taken on the way out of Swift Current, Saskatchewan on the way to Medicine Hat.

You can find out more about my recent travels by going underground.

Did they, like, throw you out of the country when they found out where you were from?

Nope, that's not why they threw me out :), mainly because I'm from there too.  I was born in Steinbach, Manitoba, and raised (mostly), in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

I met a few Canadians when I was in Cleveland for some training, and they knew all about Bakersfield and it's music scene.

The response I usually get when I say I'm from Bakersfield is, "how can you stand living in such a hot place".

Yesterdays temp of 101 was cooler than Fresno, Modesto, Sacramento, and almost everywhere south.  Bakersfield gets a bad rap.

Your experience matches mine, FloridaStateGrad.  I've received some responses similar to yours as well, Audrey, but some folks from the prairies of Saskatchewan seem to have the idea that all of California is one great big beach populated by big stars.

Anyone who thinks that it gets hot here should live in Florida for a while..

I'd be surprised if they actually enjoyed 100% Humidity in the middle of August..

That sounds pretty rough.  The closest I've come to experiencing that sort of humidity was when I was in St. Louis, Missouri.   I think Bakersfield whether is beautiful in the fall and spring.   That's my kind of climate.
