Bakersfield's Next Buck Talent Competition update: Deadline extended
There's good news for procrastinators and for those requiring more confidence and more encouragement to enter. The deadline for Bakersfield's Next Buck Talent Competition, initially set for June 1, 2008, has been extended until September 1. For those who wish to know what this competition's all about, it's about finding Bakersfield's Next Buck Owens....well, sort of. You don't have to necessarily sound like Buck, or even be a solo act for that matter. In fact, one of the lines in the audition song is, "be yourself/be yourself/don't try to be anybody else." The idea is to bring the Bakersfield Sound forward into Generation Next, by seeking out new talent that has his/her/their roots in the Bakersfield Sound, but their hands in the air, reaching for a new song. Bands, solo artists, duos, are all welcome. You may be a traditionalist, or you may have fused country with other modern forms of music. "Hick hop" for example, made popular by Cowboy Troy, is a fusion of hip hop and country. How do you join? It's really quite simple. You make your own recording of the audition song, (written and originally recorded by yours truly), either from scratch, or via instrumental tracks that have already been recorded at my expense. You submit your cover of the Dr. BLTune, If You Wanna be the Next Buck Owens, to me, Dr. BLT and you get your mp3 copy for listening and rehearsal purposes, by emailing me at: Any questions? 0 comments from 0 users
