Bakersfield soundOFF: Who is your favorite Bakersfield sound local living legend?
There's Lloyd Reading, there's Homer Joy, there's Red Simpson, there's Billy Mize, there's Sonny Langley, just to name a few of the local living legends of the Bakersfield sound genre. My question to those who are familiar with these cats and their Kern County country music, is simple. As stated in the subject line, who is your favorite among the living? In the game of blog n roll, I provide the topics and the tunes. You provide the talk. Today, I'll let you mull over the tunes over at: while you reflect on the question and decide who your very favorite is. Once that decision is a done deal, post your reply in the comments section below. Ready? Set? Blog n roll! 5 comments from 4 users

My favorite is Merle. Say what you will about the man, he may not live here, but good or bad, he will never forget Bakersfield. posted by

And we will never forget him. Well-stated any1. He's been a great inspiration to me. Merle Haggard rocks this town. He always has, and he always will. posted by

Does anybody else have any favorites among these Kern County country music kings? They can't all be equal in your eyes, or can they? posted by
