If I were McCain, I'd be proud to be associated with President Bush: He's a great President!

President George W. Bush is one of the greatest presidents we've ever had, but everybody, (including many pathetically weak, disloyal Republicans that have fallen for the "Bush-is-Hitler-lite-left-wing propaganda BS), have been trashing him ever since we went into Iraq.

When Moses led God's people out of the land of Egypt to the promised land, all they did was grumble.  Bush held America's hand and got us through 9/11.  Under his administration, we got rid of Saddam, one of the most horrible human beings on the face of the earth, along with plenty of other terrorists close to Osama bin Laden.

He's kept this country free from another terrorist attack.  He's been great for the unborn, and he's done a lot for the environment.  He's even shifted our focus from gasoline to alternative fuels at a time when we need that focus shifted.  He's a great President, even if he's made mistakes.  If I were McCain, I'd be proud to be associated with him.

He's had to do all of this, all without the confidence of much of the nation, being attacked from every side on a daily basis.

Let's stop trashing the President and be proud of his accomplishments.  If I could, I'd vote for him again if he could run, wouldn't you?

President George W. Bush is one of the greatest presidents we've ever had

sorry...as a conservative, i strongly disagree with that statement.

if i could have fortold the crisis we are in, and i did it back when the housing market took off around 2002-2003, then why couldnt Bush and all his hired hands see it too?

why is our southern border still WIDE open?

why are Ramos and Compean in Jail...better yet, why were they ever prosecuted??

how could 911 have happened with departments like the FBI, CIA and covert ops that we arent even aware of?

i could think of at least 4 or 5 right off the top of my head better than this azzklown....hell JIMMA peanut did a better Job than bush II

and remember...im a right "WING-GER"

Sorry, Learnem, but Shrub is your *PROTOTYPICAL* conservative.  Rob from the poor and give to the rich.  You don't get to disown him just because something like 70 percent of the people figured out the guy's a puppet who's done possibly irreparable harm to the country.  History will place him squarely at the bottom unless McBush gets to fill out his third term, and then Shrub himself will have to settle for *SECOND*-worst.

.

hell JIMMA peanut did a better Job than bush II

And than Bush 1 and Reagan.

But I like your thinking, BLT.  Please, please, please try to influence McBush to chain that dead albatross more firmly around his neck alongside the Dominionist.  Please?

And I like your Shrub-as-Moses idea.  He *DOES* intend to keep us wandering fruitlessly  in the desert for forty years.  Or a hundred if McBush's war is added it.

Yes, there is room for improvement, learnem, my fellow Republcian, but he's still pretty damned good as a president, especially when you compare him to Jimmy Carter.  I'd be happy if McCain was as good as Bush.  The fact is, I think he's even better, if you can imagine that!

You're in dreamland BLT. Do you also think he's handled the economy well? Knowing you, you'll probably say it wasn't his fault. I agree that you should definitely keep trying to push the link between McCain and Bush. Hey, it's more solid that the intelligence they used to invade Iraq.

If nothing else, love him for being an underdog.  That's a left-wing thing to do, am I right?

posted by ProgressivePete2 on Sep 1, 2008 at 09:05 AM

No BLT, I won't love him for being an underdog. He's screwed up the country and it will take a long time to fix. We are no longer respected in the world, we're bleeding money and selling our future to the Chinese. He's been the biggest failure this country has ever seen.

Alan Greenspan said Clinton was the "best Republican president this country ever had." He was referring to the surplus Clinton left in the trreasury when he left office, something Republican presidents are supposed to be famous for. Bush and Gore even debated what to do with the loot. Recall the "fuzzy math" versus the "locked box" debate?

For all of Bush's faults and shortcomings and the mess he's leaving this country in, I find that less worrisome than the prospect of McCain and fundie-girl giving us four more years of the Bush administration. McCain was reminded of his health history and age and that fundie-girl would be "a heartbeat" away from stepping in. Did he pick the right person?

John said not to worry, he's healthy as a horse and fundie-girl is qualified in all aspects to be the president and commander in chief.

Oh, yeah, fundie-girl's baby (grand baby?) got mentioned on Today. Seems there's substance to the rumor.

I read on Yahoo!, that Palin confirmed that her 17 year old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant.

Greatest president we ever had? I think George W. Bush is the worst president in my lifetime.

posted by blognroll on Sep 1, 2008 at 10:47 AM

When you look for the worst, it isn't hard to find, jfrancais, have you ever tried looking for positive traits in the president?

posted by jfrancais on Sep 1, 2008 at 11:19 AM

I have tried really hard to find positives in W as I have in other presidents that I may have not appreciated at the time (George H W Bush, Carter, etc.) and I really can't find them in this one. I guess when I look at what is important to me (health care, education, foreign policy) I can only conclude he has truly dropped the ball. I was living in Canada at the time of the elections in 2000. At the time, I was pretty ambivalent to the whole Presedential race. I didn't think that either candidate would or could screw it up. I honestly could not distinguish much between any candidate and assumed, as always was the case, the country would be fine. I didn't even try to look for the worst, blognroll. It just seems so visibly apparent. His failure as a President is so res ipso loquitor that I look forward to reading text in the future about this time in history that can actually shed light on some positives during his tenure as CINC.

I don't know, maybe he's nice to his kids?  That's about all I can think of.

Also, look on the bright side isn't much of an argument.

I doubt that very much.  The guy's a sociopath.

Wow. Really? One of the best Presidents ever?

Did you think Ishtar ranked right up there with Citizen Kane?

posted by randomfactor on Sep 1, 2008 at 11:56 AM

Well, to be honest, Shrub is one of the top 50 presidents America has ever had.  I'm pretty sure he'll lose that distinction in another  50 years or so

posted by antiextremism on Sep 1, 2008 at 12:14 PM

Definitely currently in the top 43.

Doc, did you read the blog before this one? I mean really, all political team play aside, you don't actually believe he was one of the best Presidents ever. I mean, okay, I could see you claiming that he's not as bad as 80% of the country believes. And I know you are a half full glass kinda guy. But one of the best ever?

posted by blognroll on Sep 1, 2008 at 09:05 PM

Better than Jimmy Carter, that's for sure---by a long shot.

posted by antiextremism on Sep 2, 2008 at 08:19 AM

That's a rousing endorsement Doc.

Bush went from one of the best ever to better than Jimmy Carter. That would bring him up to the 42nd best ever anyway.

posted by blognroll on Sep 2, 2008 at 10:03 AM

It's a heck of a lot better than number 43.

posted by jfrancais on Sep 4, 2008 at 06:46 AM

Blognroll, forever the optimist. Maybe I will eventually see the positives, then. I see positives out of the Jimmy Carter administration, if that helps.
