Is Bakersfield on the brink of a post-Brit invasion? You decide.
Is Bakersfield the site of the next big thing? Are we sitting at the edge of a burgeoning post-Brit invasion? There are hundreds of acts in this town, but it only took me a little while to stumble across two acts with a distinctively post-Brit, Beatlesque sound: one, a husband-wife twenty-something duo bursting with talent, and the one I have called the "Bakersfield Beatles" or "Bakersfield's answer to the Beatles," and one that has already been signed by a special branch of none other than EMI. Of course I'm speaking of Lost Ocean. Are there others out there with a post British invasion sound? Does the rise of this Bakersfield-based retro Brit sound signal something big brewing on the horizon? Is this just much ado about nothing at all? Is this the case of a bored blogger looking to stir up some action where there is none? Who am I to make that determination? In the world of blog n roll, I simply suppy the topic and the tunes. You supply the talk. So here are the links to my interviews and articles on these local acts: Dr BLT Interview with The Boasting Weak http://www.tollbooth.org/20... "The Beatles are not merely awful. They are so unbelievably horrible, so appallingly unmusical, so dogmatically insensitive to the magic of the art, that they qualify as crowned heads of antimusic." William F. Buckley Jr. One of America's most beloved conservative opinion makers. lol
