Somethin' Worth Fightin' For: Have you hugged a vet today?
It's great to have a day off, but does anybody still remember why Veterans Day exists?  We may be in the midst of an unpopular war, but that should not in any way diminish the value of those who have served this country with honor and distinction.

Recently, the much of the country was in the mood to drive out the Republicans and bring on the Dems, in droves.  But no change in leadership would be possible by such a shift in public sentiment in a country bereft of freedom, liberty and free speech.  We have the vets to thank for protecting our liberties.  I wrote this song in their honor.  Daniel Sisco sings it in their honor.  Thanks to the vets, I am free, as a songwriter, to write whatever I want to write.  You are free to sing along too, or not, because of these same vets.  If you choose not to, then please show your gratitude in whatever manner fits your style.   Please don't ever forget our vets, or freedom may some day forget you.

I was at Supply Sargent one week ago, buying MREs for my son's hunting trip and two guys working there were debating over the date of Veteran's Day.  Neither were born here.  One was British and I believe the other was Australian.  Neither had a clue when Veteran's Day Day was, they did however have the month right.  I very politely told them it was November 11, they thanked me, and I walked away thinking I would have expected more from a couple of Supply Sargent employees.

Doc, you have a day off??
.
What cushy government agency do you work for?
.
(Don't have to answer that, of course...  Question was semi-rhetorical.)

Only in my dreams, Hardliner.  If I did work for such a "cushy government agency" (not that I'd admit it if I did), wouldn't every day would be a holiday?

Yes, I'm prepared to celebrate Armistice Day with you as well, dgrealish.   Here's to Armistice Day!

I think many of us take this day for granted.  There are countless lives that have been lost in previous wars and military conflicts.  I had family that have fought and did not lose their lives, but were forever changed by the war.

I will always remember the vets that made it possible for me to be sitting here on the internet, doing homework, and pursuing my own "American dream."  Thank you to all the veterans who fought for the the US and Canada, eh.

Succinctly and thoughtfully stated, j. gage, as usual.

I agree with Dr. BLT’s comment about people forgetting the significance of Veterans Day. We must thank and honor all those who served honorably in the military.  It is because of them that we are here now. We need to honor and show appreciation for those who have served America in all wars.
